It was a two day celebration of old friends and memories and getting together for all kinds of fun.

The Talladega High School class of 1965 held their 45 reunion Aug. 6 and 7, and close to 60 alumni gathered, many bringing along spouses and friends, making the total attending close to 100.

There was a big party Friday night, hosted by fellow alums James and Dottie Braswell at their Talladega home, and on Saturday, a luncheon hosted by Art and Sherry Hammond at Classic on Noble in Anniston.

Saturday night brought dinner and dancing at Timber Ridge Golf Club with DJ Randy Jinks providing dance music for the occasion.

Class members organizing the reunion were James and Dottie Stewart Braswell, Dianne Lackey Farmer, Art Hammond, Alan Jones and Judy McCrary Sawyer.

Decorations for the banquet were provided by Marion Hocutt Brakefield, Dottie Braswell and Dianne Farmer.

Tammy Braswell Liner provided a special addition for the reunion, a Wall of Remembrance” for the members of the class who are deceased.

Deceased class members include Ray Burton, Bobby Coxe, Ronnie Gilbert, Lanell Holmes, Murry Howard, Michael Merritt, Donnie Norton, Gail Partridge, Wayne Scott, Jimmy Senn, Harry Swain, Margaret White and Bob Wood.

The reunion was the class’s third, there was a class of ’65 reunion held for the 30th year anniversary and a 10-year reunion held in 1975.

Members of the class are now planning for their 50th reunion in 2015.
