Looking for something that’s fun and entertaining for your children or grandchildren? We’ve got the answer! The Ritz Theatre in Talladega is presenting a musical, “Little Red Riding Hood” Monday morning at 10 a.m. It’s a production by Jacksonville State University Theatre Department, and tickets are $4 for both children and adults.
Elizabeth and Win Livingston will be in Huntsville to attend Elizabeth’s Huntsville High School reunion. There will be a ladies luncheon, tour of the high school, and a dance at the Ledgers on Saturday.
From there, Elizabeth will fly to Omaha, Neb, where she will be joined by daughter Martha Hoelzer, to watch and wait to see if her younger daughter, 2004 Olympian, Margaret Hoelzer makes the 2008 Olympic Swimming Team.
It will be televised July 30 -Aug. 6, at 7 p.m., weekdays, and on NBC on weekends.
Margaret holds the American Record in the 200 meter backstroke and is ranked currently second in the world rankings.
The annual Nick Hickman Reunion was held June 22 at DeSoto Caverns. Fifty two members of the family attended. Pearl Johnston had fourteen members of her family present; Josie Motes had three; Rena Lou Bell had three; Zula Guinn had eleven; Sidney Hickman had two; Exalona Bailey had seven; and Jabe Hickman had twelve,
The family tradition began sixty years ago honoring Nick Hickman’s birthday. Assisting with entertainment this year was Clifford Ray, Iris Ann Barnett and Ben.
Rose Ella Lybrand, Lucille Caldwell didn’t have family attending due to illness.
Wedding bells will ring July 27 for Mary Salloway and Kevin Kacavich. They will be married in Boston, and on June 7, there was a party to honor the bride elect, held at Comer Museum and Arts Center.
Hosting the occasion were Henley Barrett, Frankie Bell, Jean Ann Campbell, Laura Campbell, Anita Crowe, Molly Currie, Joy Deupree, Libby Fielding, Linda Hardy, Janet Jones, Allison Marsh, Debra McDaniel, Nancy McKay, Margaret Morton, Mickey Orton, Janet Peterson, Joann Rea, Pat Sims, Sue Smitherman, Lena Taylor, Marti Taylor, Jane Vaughn and Jacqueline Wallace.
This Sunday afternoon, there will be a bridal tea to honor Elissa Polk, bride elect of Miles Landers. The setting will be the Ladies Parlor at First Baptist Church and hosting will be Anita Dark, Anita Crowe, Emmie Kines, Jeannine Parrish, Molly Currie, Teresa Alford, Mary Charles Watkins, Laura Campbell, Jane Vaughn, Vicki Winter, Sharon Mitchell, Janet Adams, Sarah Hamm, Frances Collins, Linda Bice and Ann Cunningham.
Eleanor Collins has a new great granddaughter!
Caroline Banks arrived June 13 in West Port, Conn., weighing 7 pounds and 9 ounces. Her parents are Tom and Candice Banks. Welcoming her home were brother Chip and sister, Marin, and grandparents Mary Fay and Kevin Doyle of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Jacky Partridge also has a new great granddaughter!
She was born June 8th at St. Vincent’s Hospital, weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. She has been named Hadley Kate and her proud parents are Christy and David Galbaugh of Hoover. She joins a brother Haden and her grandparents are Derilda and Richard Joiner.
