Looking for a way to treat your youngsters or grandchildren to a special day this summer? If so, here’s the perfect answer. Monday, June 30th, Talladega’s Ritz Theatre will present “Little Red Riding Hood,” a musical adaptation produced by Jacksonville State University’s Theatre Department. Curtain time is 10 a.m., and all tickets age $4. If you need more information, you may call the Ritz at 315-0000.
A trip to a REAL theatre and seeing a live production is treat your child won’t forget for a long time!
On June 15, Theo and Cleo Strickland celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary! What a wonderful blessing!
Their daughter, Mel provided an anniversary cake for the staff and other residents of the Bill Nichols Nursing Home in celebration of this great occasion.
The couple loves to receive cards, and if you would like to send them one, mail it in care of the Bill Nichols Nursing Home, 1784 Elkahatchee Road, Alexander City, 35010.
The Childersburg Garden Club met for their final meting of this year on May 28th. The meeting was held at Rainwater Library.
Joyce Saxon was hostess and new officers for the coming year were installed.
Serving as president will be Mildred Storey; Joyce Saxon, vice president; Sherie Williams, secretary; Jean Baker, treasurer; Olene Justice, corresponding secretary; and Nell Nix, historian.
Jane (Mrs. Lewis) Allen was in Centre over the weekend to attend her high school class reunion.
It was held at Piney, on the Coosa River and the grads had a wonderful time visiting and reminiscing.
Jane stayed with two of her friends, Jesse Bledsoe of Huntville and Jo Buckner of Anderson, S.C., at the cabin of their friend, Robbie Lockridge.
There’s a lot of activity at the home of Betsy and Stewart Burkhalter. They have all of their family home to visit!
Their grandsons, John and Michael Lewis came first from Washington, and spent a week with them, and then their mother, Shelli Lewis joined them Tuesday, and will attend her high school class reunion this weekend.
Also arriving this week was daughter Cindy Jones, her husband, Rex and theirs, Kelsey and Reese from Flower Mound, Texas, and they will visit through the fourth of July.
Local family joining them age Suzy, Tim, Jodi and Jessi Barnes.
Wedding bells will ring July12th for Cassi Lightsey and Jared (BoBo) Epperson. They will be married at First Baptist Church, and Sunday afternoon, there was a tea to honor the bride elect.
The setting was First Baptist Church, and hosting were Nancy Champion, Barbara Vanderwers, Rhonda Dukes, Sheryl Blakely, Pam Ray, Sherry Reeves, Jonja Collier, Cindy Smith, Lisa Bailey, Donna Walker and Kay Jones.
She was also honored with a “Bachlorette Party” last weekend. It was held at Embassy Suites in Birmingham, and hosted by Tami Chance.
This Saturday, there will be a lingerie shower for Cassi and it will be given at the home of Jan Atkinson, Hosting will be Allison Cleckler.
