Homefolks in Childersburg

June Winters
07-19-2008

A reminder that Saturday, July 26 at 6 p.m., you are invited to an old fashioned ice cream social at the Butler Harris Rainwater Museum.
The social will combine ice cream, patriotism, live music, and hot dogs. There will be games and activities for the children, and a horseshoe court for pitching horseshoes.
Bring your lawn chairs or blanket to sit on the grounds of the museum and listen to country, gospel and blue grass music.
The high point of the afternoon will be cracking open the freezers and dipping out the smooth “just frozen ice cream.” There will be several different flavors and delicious toppings. Nothing beats homemade ice cream.
A hot dog, chips, soft drink and a cup of ice cream will be $5, or you can have “just ice cream or just a hot dog,” for $1. If you have questions or need advance tickets, please call Martha Little, 256/378-0336.
Wedding bells will ring next Saturday, July 19 for Emily Mathis and Austin Bourgeois of Tennessee. They will be married at First United Methodist Church with the reception following at Morgan Creek Winery.
Sunday afternoon, there was a lovely bridal tea to honor Emily. The setting was Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church. Hosting were Liz Baker, Karen Wyatt, Ophelia Wyatt, Peggy Martin, Debra Morris, Kim Warren, Marquita Harbin, Fran Harry, Chandra Boling, Candy Mahaffey, Faye Payne, Kay McCain, Sandra Holm, Pat Kallenbach, Cindy Sims, Glennie Wesson, Mary Carpenter, Woni Nelson, Jeanette McGeever, May Jane Lee, Janet Cumbee, Audrey Pate, Joni Long, Nancy Beckham, Kris Logan, Jane Payant and Linda Barrow.
Bob and Liz Baker enjoyed a nice summer vacation in the Sunshine State. They chose Panama City Beach as their destination for sun, sand and wonderful seafood.
Michelle and Hal Wilson have a blue bow out to announce the arrival of their new son!
Master Thomas Frank Wilson arrived June 17 at Brookwood Hospital, weighing 8 pounds and 1 ounce. He was 21 ˝ inches long.
Welcoming Tommy home was his big sister, Emily, and grandparents, Sue and Pat Wilson of Nashville, Arlene Partain of Birmingham, and Frank and Irene Partain of Hoover.
Also added to his admiration society are great-grandmothers, Ollie Partain of Germantown, Tenn., and Audrey Capps of Birmingham.
Billy and Sherry Atkinson are enjoying a visit from two of their grandchildren, Blakely and Dixon Facaine. They are here from Slidell, La. Sister Alex will be joining them later. Their parents are Blake and Brooke (Atkinson) Facaine.
Ed and Norine Johnson enjoyed having their son Joe and his wife Debra visit recently. They are from Entiat, Wash.
