Wedding bells rang last Saturday, Aug. 16 for Rebecca Riddle and Dallas Caviness. They were married at First Baptist Church. Rebecca’s life-long friend, Jere Mahaffey performed the double ring ceremony. A reception followed at Bella Luna, and the rehearsal dinner was poolside at the home of Bobby and Holly Hoyle in Vincent. A bridal tea was given to honor Rebecca July 27. The setting was First Baptist Church, and hosting were Candy Mahaffey, Karen Poe, Sandra Partain, Teresa Hartsfield, Donna Jones, Krystal Mims, Kitty Forbus, Kim Broadhead, Pam Storey, Carla Barnett, Debbi Hamilton, Marian Aldridge, Laurel Pate, Rhonda Dukes, Cindy Cochran, June Lee, Donna Mims, Ellen Limbaugh, Holly Hoyle, Lori Osbourn, Sue Beck, and Ellen Marie Oaks. A delightful “Basket Party” was given at the Mt. Olive home of the bride’s sister Donna and Chris Dukes. Co-hosting was their sister, Stacy Rockwell. Each guest was given a room or an occasion to fill a basket for. There were baskets for the kitchen, living room, bath, and others, along with baskets for Christmas, the honeymoon, parties, etc. GREAT IDEA! Dallas is in the United States Army and graduated from basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga. Aug, 8. Joni and Terry Long enjoyed a wonderful summer trip to Las Vegas. They stayed at the Flamingo and spent five days sightseeing. Joni and Terry were celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary early. Their special day is Sept. 16. Arnold and Marilly Comer and son, Sean came from Baton Rouge, La., last week. Sean accompanied his grandfather Ken Watkins from Casper, Wyoming, back to Birmingham, and Arnold and Marilly were here to meet them at the airport. Ken has been hospitalized in Sylacauga for injuries sustained in a fall, and Marilly is staying for a few days to assist him. They also visited Arnold’s parents, Gordon and Inez Comer. Alan and Laurel Pate and Walter and Debra Wells are delighted over the arrival of their new granddaughter! Little Emma Brooke Pate made her debut Aug. 8 , weighing 6 pounds and 11 ounces. She was 20 inches long. Emma Brooke is the firstborn of Zeke and Amanda Pate of Sylacauga and equally proud great grandparents are Audrey and George Pate.
