Wedding anniversary congratulations are in order for the Rev. William and Ann Casaday. They celebrated their 50th Sunday afternoon with a beautiful reception.
The setting was Childersburg Senior Center and hosting were their children, Billy and Kathy Casaday of Gardendale, Cindy and Mark Allen of Alpine and Allen and Beth Casaday of Childersburg, and grandchildren, Jordan Casaday and wife, Rebekah; Kaitlyn and Caroline Casaday; David Casaday; and Wesley, Leah, Reid and Mallory Allen.
Among the more than 150 family and friends attending were Ann’s brother, Leon and Marie Brewton from Virginia; nephew, Bobby and Martha Casaday of Georgia; and niece, Mary Jane and Art Thomas of Fairhope.
Many friends from former churches served by Rev. Casaday attended. He served as pastor at Hephzibah Baptist Church for 14 years and was director of missions at Coosa River Baptist Association.
Ida and Hoyt Neal were in Birmingham for the wedding of granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Sims and Stuart Knox White. They were married at Covenant Presbyterian Church, with a reception following in the church Fellowship Hall.
The rehearsal dinner was at the Summit Club and hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph White, parents of the groom.
A bridal shower was given at the Mountain Brook home of Rebecca Sibley, and the bridesmaid’s luncheon was given at the home of Tony and Abby Miller in Mountain Brook.
A barbecue dinner was given at the Mountain Brook home of David and Bama Mills, and on the evening after the wedding the bride’s parents, Dr. Marion and Regina Sims gave a dinner party for out-of-town wedding guests.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Cayman Islands, the couple is at home in Tuscaloosa where both are students at the University of Alabama.
Our sympathy is extended to Hoyt in the death of his sister, Mary Neal. Funeral services were in Ashland, Ga.
Bucky and Ruth Riddle and Bob and Jean Haynes joined their son and daughter, Larry and Jennifer (Haynes) Riddle at the graduation of Larry and Jennifer’s daughter, Ashley Riddle from Auburn University on Aug.9. Ashley received her degree in Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production. She is working for designer Tory Burch in New York.
Other family attending were Jennifer’s brother, Don and Nicole Haynes of Childersburg and Larry’s brother, Mike and Mary Riddle and son, Andy of Augusta, Ga.
JoAnn and Bill O’Neal have special company this week. Their daughter Sherri (Mrs. Brian) Matson and her ten week-old baby, Ali are here from Daphne. This is baby Ali’s first trip to Childersburg, and they are here to be with Bill while he recovers from open heart surgery.
Bobbie Shannon joined daughter Patti and Jay Benson of Cropwell for a trip to Montevallo to attend a family reunion, held at the home of Bobbie’s niece, Cathy and Johnny Ward Jr., and their daughters, Kendall and Sara.
The reunion was to honor Bobbie’s nephew, Dr. Irv Beiman, his wife, Young Ling and their five year-old daughter, Mia, who are visiting from China.
Other family included Johnny Ward of Homewood, Chris Tant, Molly and Lauren of Birmingham, and Buddy and Dotty Branch of Montgomery.
The Beimans will also Bob Ward and his family in Huntsville.
