“Menopause: The Musical” is coming to the Ritz this weekend, and if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, there are still a few available for the Saturday evening show.
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m., and the GOOD news is the tickets that are available are discounted $5 each!
The response has been so great for the show, our friend, George Culver would like to see all performances sold out. So take advantage of this bargain and ENJOY!
Jim and Anna McIlwain enjoyed a recent trip to Portland, Oregon, where they visited Jim’s brother, Dr. Robert and Joan McIlwain.
They had a delightful time sightseeing in the area and especially enjoyed a day on the coast. Another highlight was a side trip to Mt. Hood, where they had lunch at the famous Timberline Lodge and enjoyed a fresh snowfall.
Mary Estelle was joined by her daughter, Kim Estelle of Birmingham for a summer trip to St. Simon Island, Ga.
Joining them at St. Simon was Mary’s niece, Brandi Lynch of Wylie, Texas and they attended the graduation of Brandi’s brother Jason Lynch, from the United States Department of Homeland Security Academy.
They all stayed at the beautiful King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort while they were on the island.
Dr. Al and Marian Yoe were in Opelika last week to visit daughter, Lucretia and George Mann. They especially enjoyed joining Lucretia for a Bible Study at the home of Jan and David Cynnie, and hearing Barbara Benton of Birmingham speak.
Lela and John Locklin have family home to visit. Her brother, Tommy Lewis and his wife, Thelma are visiting from Houston, Texas.
Sidney Thompson and Anna McIlwain represented the Andrew Jackson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution at the state district luncheon meeting held recently at The Club in Birmingham.
Members of the Holly Garden Club met for their first meeting of the new year Wednesday. The setting for the meeting was the home of Elaine (Mrs. Tom) Richardson, and president, Millie Chastain presided. Sue Nicholls introduced guest speaker Jim McIlwain, who presented a program on orchids.
Friends of the Library will meet next Thursday, Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. They would love to have you as a member, and applications for membership are available at the library. Door prizes will be awarded at the meeting.
The monthly Hymn Sings will begin the new year next Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. They will sing at Sunset Inn, and they invite you to join them. There are many ways you can assist, so if you are interested just be there and join these folks who enjoy entertaining at all the local nursing homes, assisted living and retirement homes.
This group has so much fun when they meet for their special breakfasts. They all save aluminum cans, sell them, and use the money for this special event. They are all members of the Howard Williams Sunday School class of Bemiston United Methodist Church, and along with their teacher, Mr. Williams, others enjoying the event include Kaity Smith, the Rev. Glen and Kathy Horn, the Rev. Russell and Earline Rodriguez, Jim and Mary Earle, Sam and Yvonne Grice, Ron Garrett, Wayne Bowen, Margie Miller, Jeanette Davis, Willene Hughston, Josie Williams, Rosie Griffin, Lameril Hanner, and Linda Stover.
