Happy birthday Mildred Campbell! Her special day was Friday, Oct. 17th, and she was guest of honor at a delightful brunch hosted by Virginia West. The setting was Chateau Toots Bed and Breakfast in Fayetteville, and places were set for Mildred Campbell, Patsy Thomas, Betty Cleveland, Mae Campbell, Susan Payton, Catherine Craven, Nelda Watson, Linda Rayfield, Beth Yates, Sammie Smith and William Killough.
The menu included country ham, apple smoked bacon, sour cream eggs, fresh fruit, and biscuits with homemade peach, strawberry and blueberry jam. Two delicious grits recipes, (Italian Grits and Rum Raisin Grits), were served by the owner of Toots, Mona Bargerhuff, who was third place winner in the recent Coosa Grits Cook-Off in Childersburg. Dessert was the outstanding Key Lime Cake from the recipe by Betty Culver, as featured in the 2003 Daily Home Holiday Cookbook!
Patsy Thomas provided the blessing and led the rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday!”
Norma Cannon of Marietta, Ga., entertained with birthday jokes featuring the names of the guests, and the Bargerhuffs treated guests to a tour of Château Toots. William Killough was official photographer for the occasion.
