PELL CITY — Mayor Adam Stocks said Monday a Comfort Suites Hotel is coming to town.He said the new hotel will be located next to the Cracker Barrel restaurant in the Bankhead Crossing commercial development.
“The addition of a new hotel is a great revenue generator for the city, while at the same time it has very low impact on the community,” Stocks said.
Officials say the Comfort Suites is a 63-room facility with a swimming pool. The new motel will employ about five people.
The council approved two preliminary and final plats for two commercial plots within the Bankhead Crossing commercial development “for future retail establishments” at Monday’s council meeting.
Stocks declined to say what other commercial development was coming to Bankhead Crossing, but hinted that a restaurant could be on the horizon.
“Whenever there’s a hotel, there could be a restaurant right around the corner,” Stocks said. “I hope we can make a formal announcement soon of a new restaurant company coming to Pell City.”
