ST. CLAIR COUNTY — At Thursday’s Mayor’s Association breakfast, Commissioner Mike Bowling announced he is seeking the appointment to be probate judge. Alabama Gov. Bob Riley will make the appointment. Bowling has been a commissioner for 10 years. “I’ll be asking Gov. Riley for this appointment,” Bowling said. “It is something I’ve wanted to do for the past 6 to 8 years and never felt like it was the right time. Now is the right time.” Bowling not only serves as a commissioner, he is building inspector for the town of Margaret. Current St. Clair County Probate Judge Wallace Wyatt Jr. announced earlier this week he is leaving office effective Nov. 7, after serving in this capacity for almost 20 years. Bowling said he would run in the next election for the probate judge seat whether or not he was appointed. |
