TALLADEGA — Police are trying to identify a suspect in the armed robbery of Approved Cash Advance on East Battle Street Friday afternoon.According to Captain of Investigations Ronny Jones, the suspect is a white male armed with a handgun and last seen wearing a black baseball cap.
The suspect entered the store at 12:21 p.m., produced the gun and demanded money.
He then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
Jones said the suspect may have been out in front of the store for a few minutes before robbing it.
After news of the robbery began to spread, all campuses of the Alabama Institutes for Deaf and Blind were placed on lock-down for 45 minutes, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. AIDB apologized for any inconvenience caused by the lockdown in a press release.
Robbery in the first degree is a class A felony, punishable upon conviction by 20 to 99 years or life in prison.
