A Harpersville Police Department drug-sniffing dog is missing from its home in Childersburg, and the town of Harpersville is offering a no-questions-asked $500 reward for its return.Harpersville Police Chief David Latimer said the dog, Hunter, is a male yellow lab trained to sniff out drugs.
“He’s a friendly dog, and we don’t know if he might have got out of his pen and got in the car with somebody,” Latimer said. “We just want to get him back. He’s part of the officer’s family, and they’re just devastated.”
Latimer said the Childersburg Police Department and the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department had assisted in searching for the dog after it was found missing about 9:30 Saturday night.
“If they want to bring him to town hall, or call us and we’ll come pick him up, I just want to stress it’s no questions asked,” Latimer said.
