TALLADEGA COUNTY — Voters across the county will go to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in runoff races from the Aug. 26 municipal elections.In Sylacauga, there is only one City Council seat that’s yet to be filled.
Walter Jacobson and Larry White will face off for the District 4 seat on the council. In the first election, Jacobson received 216 to White’s 182 votes, both defeating opponent Shannon Darby, who received 162 votes.
After the municipal election, a runoff was necessary for both Districts 4 and 1, but incumbent Councilman Don Flippo removed himself from the race in early September, and the council appointed his opponent, Jim Heigl, to the District 1 seat at a called meeting on Sept. 8.
The J. Craig Smith Community Center will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Sylacauga voters.
In Childersburg, runoff elections will determine three places on the City Council.
Michelle Mizzell and Tom Jeff Duvall are up against each other for the Ward B seat. Mizzell received 139 votes in the election, while Duvall received 133. Their opponent, James “Pete” Haisten, received 82 votes.
In Ward C, Bonnie Wallace Carter, who received 113 in August, is running against Charlie D. Woodruff, who received 99 votes in the first election. Robbin Cobb, who ran against the two in August, received 39 votes.
Incumbent Ward E Councilman David Dunlap will face Charles Reynolds in Tuesday’s election. Both Dunlap and Reynolds received 62 votes in August, defeating their opponent, Ralph R. Rich, who received 60 votes.
Voters in Childersburg have two polling places. Residents of Wards B and E will vote at the R.S. Limbaugh Community Center, while residents of Ward C will vote at the Ferry Road Court Community Center. Each will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
In Lincoln, only Ward 3 on the City Council is still undecided. The runoff is between Mildred Trammell and Chris Watson.
Voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the old Lincoln High School gymnasium.
All voters must provide some form of identification, such as a driver’s license, when going to their polling place.
