Adams

HOBSON CITY — Services for Melmea Adams, 85, of Hobson City will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mrs. Adams died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Burks

Services for Michael L. Burks, 57, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mr. Burks died Wednesday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Clark

Services for Kareem Abdul Jabbar Clark, 29, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Friday at Greater Thankful Baptist Church with Rev. P.Q. English officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery with Ervin Funeral Chapel in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Clark died Sunday at University Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his parents, Jeffery and Beulah Clark; a sister, Tonya Clark of Atlanta; and four brothers, Jeffery Clark and John Clark, both of Oxford, Minister Terrance Clark of Houston and Ambrose Clark of Anniston.

Pallbearers will be members of the Anniston High School Class of 1994 and friends of the family.

Mr. Clark, an Anniston native, served as deacon at the Mission Church of God in Christ. He was assistant secretary and booking manager of the "Inspirational Singer of Anniston," and was employed at Rally’s Hamburgers.

Curvin

Services for James Roger Curvin, 45, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Friday at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with John David Weed officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Curvin died Monday at his home.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Linda Scott; two sons, Kevin Curvin and his wife, Wendy, of Pell City and James Roger Curvin Jr. of Moody; two stepdaughters, Krystal Yarbrough and Amber Yarbrough, both of Anniston; two stepsons, Aubrey Yarbrough and Allen Gentry, both of Anniston; his stepmother, Dot Curvin of Anniston; a brother and his wife, Jon and Wendy Curvin of Ohatchee; a stepbrother and his wife, Blake and Jackie Williams of Weaver; a granddaughter, Courtney Curvin; and four stepgrandchildren, Destiny Williamson, Dakota Williamson, Dalton Williamson and Daren Williamson.

Pallbearers will be Steve Rabbitt Bryant, John Payne, Don West, David Guthrie, Ricky Ogden and Jerry Bryant Jr.

Mr. Curvin was a member of Weaver First United Methodist Church. He was employed by RC Welding in Anniston. He was preceded in death by his mother, Earnestine H. Curvin; and his father, James Ragan Curvin.

Edge

BREMEN, Ga. — Services for James Thomas Edge, 66, of Bremen, Ga. will be 2 p.m. CST Friday at Dryden Funeral Home in Heflin. The family will receive friends 5-7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Edge died Tuesday at Higgins General Hospital in Bremen.

Fitzpatrick

PIEDMONT — Services for Rufus Carlton Fitzpatrick, 87, of Piedmont will be 6 p.m. today at Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church on Hughes Street with Hayward Clark officiating. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday at Goshen Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home of Piedmont in charge. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Fitzpatrick died Tuesday at Piedmont Health Care Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Ford and Ginger Blythe and her husband, Rick, all of Piedmont; two sons and their wives, Ronald and Sue Fitzpatrick of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carlton and Theresa Fitzpatrick of Brunswick, Ga.; a brother-in-law and his wife, J.D. and Eloise White of Piedmont; 10 grandchildren, Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife, Valorie, Karen Mattox and her husband, Ron, Tony Ford, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Rachel Faulk and her husband, Marty, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Carissa Lloyd and her husband, Bob, Melanie Troxell and her husband, Mike, Marion Blythe and Brandy Barber; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Ford, Matt Ford, Derek McFry, Leroy Fitzpatrick, Eddie Fitzpatrick, Art Ingram and Hank Douthit. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fitzpatrick, a Piedmont native and lifelong resident, was a member of Hughes Street Congregational Holiness Church where he served as deacon for many years, played the violin for 69 years, and visited the sick and shut-ins. A World War II Army veteran, he retired from SCT Yarn with 48 years service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet White Fitzpatrick; his parents, Arthur and Geneva Fitzpatrick; a granddaughter, Rhonda Ford McFry; four sisters, and five brothers.

Hutto

MUNFORD — Services for Ralph E. Hutto, 78, of Munford will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Penny Drummond officiating. Burial will be in Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hutto died Wednesday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Hutto; a son and his wife, Jerry Ralph and Linda Hutto of Highland Springs, Va.; three daughters, Kay Hull, Kelly Gilmore and her husband, Alex, and Kathy Hutto Pressley, all of Munford; a sister, Francis Hutto Allen of Lincoln; four grandchildren, James "Jamie" Nathanial Greer III, Ralph "Rusty" Eugene Hutto II, Lisa Rickey and her husband, Roman, and Kim Hindley and her husband, Tomy; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons.

Mr. Hutto was a deacon for many years at Munford Baptist Church. A Navy veteran, he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Then he worked at International Enterprise for 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Hutto; and three brothers, John Hutto, Troy Hutto and Greg Hutto.

Hydrick

PIEDMONT — Memorial services for Ruby Bishop Hydrick, 89, of Piedmont will be private.

Mrs. Hydrick died Monday at Piedmont Health Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Peggy and Ed Teal of Piedmont; nine grandchildren, Earl Fagan and his wife, Cheryl, Connie Downey and her husband, Larry, George Fagan and his wife, Freda, Fran Parris, Pete Fagan and his wife, Jane, Eddie Teal and his wife, Connie, Mary Lee Boddie, Judy Marsalis and Tammy Jo Teal; 15 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests no flowers.

Jackson

Services for Margree Jackson, 95, of Anniston will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Jackson died Wednesday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

James

Services for Arthur Paul James, 92, of Anniston will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory.

Mr. James died Wednesday at his home.

Jones

OHATCHEE — Services for Mary Frances Jennings Jones, 88, of Ohatchee will be 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston with Rev. Sam Legon officiating. Burial will be in Crook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Tuesday at her home.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Willie Martin, and Doris and Bill Miller Sr., all of Ohatchee; a son, Rip Jones of Oxford; a sister, Fannie Lou Usry of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Miller Jr., Alan Miller, Craig Jones, Dennis Norvet, Lawrence Clark and Ben Clark.

Mrs. Jones, a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident, was a member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace "Dick" Jones; five brothers, and four sisters.

Nicholson

Services for Howard E. Nicholson, 88, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Friday at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Nicholson died Wednesday in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Lucile Nicholson; two daughters and their husbands, Paula and Johnny Brooks of Anniston, and Nannelle and Eric Dempsey of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Tonya Nolan and her husband, James, Lynne Clark, Warren McDonald and Shane Brooks; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Noell, Lamar Driggers, Cody McDonald, James Nolan, Ronnie Gunter and Rick Sellers.

Mr. Nicholson, a longtime Anniston resident, had been a deacon and Sunday School superintendent at Woodland Park Baptist Church and Munford Baptist Church. He owned and operated Nick’s Café for 30 years and later was employed with Parker Memorial Baptist Church and Guyton Auto Parts. He had been a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Nicholson; and an infant son, Walter Scott Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Munford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 129, Munford, AL 36268.

Robinson

Services for William David Robinson Jr., 29, of Anniston will be noon Friday at Harmony Baptist Church with Dryden Funeral Home of Heflin in charge. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the church.

Mr. Robinson died Wednesday in Anniston.

Spradlin

WEDOWEE — Services for Joyce Spradlin, 57, of Wedowee will be announced by Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee.

Mrs. Spradlin died Wednesday at Atlanta Medical Center.

Thomas

ASHLAND — Services for Naomi Danielly Thomas, 92, of Ashland will be 2 p.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends until 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday at the Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Higgins of Ashland; two grandchildren, Brandt R. Thomas Jr. and Teresa McDonald; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Carr, Billy Carr, Felton McCollum, Earl McCay, Jimmy Williamson and Jamie Williamson.

Mrs. Thomas, a Clay County native and lifelong resident, was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She retired from Palm Beach Company in Talladega and owned Naomi’s Flower Shop for more than 10 years.
