WILLIAM HILTON BARTON

BIRMINGHAM — William Hilton Barton was 93 when he passed away in Birmingham on July 24, 2006. Mr Barton was born to William Thomas and Dolly Beck Barton on September 9, 1912, in Ashland, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II achieving the rank of captain and completed his service in the Army Reserve as a major. Mr Barton began his business career in Talladega, Alabama, when he and his brothers-in-law purchased the Newberry Manufacturing Company. He remained with the company for over thirty years in the positions of accountant and purchasing agent. He was an involved member of the community giving many hours of service to several civic organizations. He found his work with the Talladega County chapter of the American Red Cross particularly satisfying, and he was privileged to have the opportunity to serve as president of that organization. Mr Barton was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Talladega serving several terms on the board of deacons and as treasurer. Upon his retirement as an active deacon he was named deacon emeritus. Mr Barton was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Gladys Godwin Barton. He is survived by their two daughters, Linda Miller of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Jean Hendrickson of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrea Riganti, St Louis, Missouri, James Miller, Kansas City, Kansas, Amy Martinez, La Place, Louisiana, Holly Bazemore and Anne Lovette, Birmingham, Alabama, Robert Hendrickson, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and by seven great-grandchildren. Mr Barton resided at Mount Royal Towers and his family expresses deep appreciation to the skilled nursing staff for their dedicated care, particularly during his final illness. The family also greatly appreciates the wonderful care provided by the nurses of New Beacon Hospice. Mr Barton's family will receive visitors at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2006. The funeral service will be at the chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

HAYDEN BLANKENSHIP

WELLINGTON — Funeral service for Hayden Blankenship, 85, of Wellington will be at July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston with the Rev. Van Lockridge officiating. Burial will be in Wellington First Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Blankenship died Monday at his residence. He was a native of Lincoln but had been a resident of Wellington for most of his life. He was retired from Balcox-Wilcox Construction after 30 years, a World War II Army Veteran, member of Alexandria Masonic Lodge #208, Boiler Makers Union, and a member of Wellington First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by parents, John and Lonnie Blankenship; four sisters, Willie Pellus, Ida Champion, Ella Milam, and Farris Canal; and four brothers, Harold, Curtis, John, and Woodrow Blankenship. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Blankenship; son, Larry Blankenship and wife Barbara of Wellington; sister, Sybil Taylor of Texas; three grandchildren, Missy Locke and husband Dean, Larry Blankenship and wife Carrie, and Sammi Ann Blankenship; three great grandchildren, Sasha Evans, Toni Blankenship, and Colby Locke; caregivers Sharee Arnold and Lynn Dillaha.

Pallbearers will be the nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Wellington First Baptist Church Life Center. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston will direct the service.

MARY A. HARRIS

ANNISTON — Mary A. Harris, 83, of Anniston died July 24 at Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangement will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel in Anniston.

ANNETTE H. MARTIN

BIRMINGHAM — Annette H. Martin, age 83, of Birmingham, Ala. went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2006. She was a member of Wylam Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Martin. Survived by her daughters, Diane Walding, Leeds, Ala. and Susan Layton (Stanley) Ragland, Ala.; sisters, Gert Hull, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Bernie Lulewicz, Wilkesbarre, Pa; grandchildren, Michael Walding, Leeds, Ala. Jeremy Meads, Ragland, Ala. Wayne Layton (Leslie), Paul Layton, and Elizabeth Isbell (Jeremy) numerous family members and friends. A 12:00 p.m. chapel service will be at July 27, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, the Reverend Stanley W. Layton officiating, burial to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Bessemer, Ala. The family will receive friends July 27, 2006 from 10:00-12:00 at the funeral home. Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

MABLE C. MOORE

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Mrs. Mable C. Moore, 100 will be Thursday, at 11 a.m. at First Congregation U.C.C. with Pastor Holloway officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memorial Garden. She died Sunday at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Lastra and Darlene Neely; son, Harrell (Myrtle) Moore; grandchildren: Demitrius Hall, Jason Moore, Jullian Moore, Stephen (Brenda) Woolfolk, Ronney (Tanya) Neely; great grandchildren, Gabriel Neely, Simeon Neely, Jaden Neely; sister: Fannie C. Gooden; host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Talladega College, P.O. Box 627, Talladega, Alabama 35160. Sims Funeral Services will direct the service.

JEROME RHODEN

HEFLIN — Services for Jerome Rhoden, 65, will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel in Anniston, Ala. Mr. Rhoden died Tuesday, July 25 at Trinity Hospital in Birmingham.

WALKER CHRISTIAN WRIGHT

MEMPHIS, TN — Master Walker Christian Wright infant son of Drs. Holland and Margaret Laurie Wright, died Thursday July 13, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The family joined together for a candlelight prayer service at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home on Sunday at 3:00 PM. A private family funeral service was held Monday at 11 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. The the Rev. Father Lawrence A. Lucree officiated. In addition to his parents, Master Wright is survived by his brother Gary Morgan Wright II of Albany, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Fay Comer of Sylacauga, maternal grandfather, Mr Braxton Bragg Comer of Rockwall, TX, paternal grandparents, Dr and Mrs Gary Morgan Wright of Ocala, FL, great grandmothers, Mrs John R Woods of Ocala, FL, and Mrs Boyd Wright of Atlanta.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Walker Wright to, St Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 332 N Lauderdale Drive, Memphis, TN 38105. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangments.
