JOHN W. ALLEN

MILLERVILLE — Funeral services for Mr. John W. Allen, 95, will be at Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Arnall and the Rev. Richard East officiating. Mr. Allen passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He had pthe Reviously been employed at both the Clay County Road Department and the Shell Plant in Sylacauga. He was an avid gardener, carpenter and a big fan of gospel singing. He received a 28 year plaque for attending Sunday morning services at Clay County Nursing Home. He enjoyed participating in the Senior Citizens Groups at both Big Springs and Bethel Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #356 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mattie Allen; wife of 62 years, Lorell K. Allen; son-in-law, Frank S. Phillips; grandson, David Phillips; brothers, Seab, Warner, Willis and Emra Allen; and sister, Connie Robinson. Mr. Allen is survived by two daughters, Mozelle G. Allen of Millerville and Charlene A. Phillips of Ashland; grandchildren, Jenny Tidmore (Kent), Jerry F. Phillips (Suzanne), Jason E. Phillips (Laurie); eight great grandchildren, Jansen Tidmore (Laura), Jerron Tidmore, Jeremy F. Phillips, Jacob Phillips, John David Phillips, Jase Phillips, Marleigh Phillips and Macy Phillips. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Allen will be Jimmy Allen, Thomas Anderson, Reginald Blair, Donald Bowen, Kenny Packer, Wade Price, Richard Runyan and Billy Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lecroy Teel, Charlie Hickman, Earl Haynes, Buddy Jones, Roy Ledford, Buck Anderson, Marvin Lanthrip, Ronnie Bryant, Fred Morris, Terry Crawford, Troy Griffin, Howard Price, Wayne Osbourn, Kenneth Ingram and Steve Gordon. Clay County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

RAGLAND — Graveside service for Mr. Clovis Daffron, 99, is March 31, at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

RUBY LEE DAVIS

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Lee Davis, 76, is March 30, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Pell City. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

ROGER WADE HEATH

VINCENT — Graveside service for Roger Wade Heath, 57, will be Sunday, March 30, at 4 p.m. at Tallasahatchie Cemetery, Alpine, with the Rev. Brandon Stripling officiating. Mr. Heath died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He is survived by a sister, Becky Carroll and husband Lynn; and brother, Jimmy Heath all of Vincent. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, from 2-3:30 p.m. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Carroll, Jeremy Carroll, Justin Carroll, Heath Carroll and Melvin Giddens. Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

VENEZA MARGARET OWEN

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Mrs. Veneza Margaret Owen, 84, will be Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Talladega, with the Rev. Frank Canada officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Owen died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Birmingham. She was a native and spent most of her life in Milford Center, Ohio. She had been a resident of Talladega since 2000. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Milford Center, Ohio; retired from United Telephone of Ohio; and an avid camper. She was preceded in death by a son, John David Owen; and a great grandchild, Derek Rognon. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, C.B. "Red" Owen of Talladega; daughter-in-law, Lorna Owen of Maryville, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Art and Deborah Owen of Jacksonville, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and John McDonald of Talladega; grandchildren, Barbara Miller, Betty Giles, Lora Owen and John W. McDonald Jr.; great grandchildren, Darin Rognon, Christy Rognon, David Giles, Tiffany Giles, Bridget Giles, Victoria Long, Erica Burkard and Payton Rae McDonald; great-great grandchild, Lori Elizabeth Grimes. Visitation will be Saturday, March 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers are Norman Duncan, Alan Waites, Ty Williams, Bo Taylor, Paul Mackey, Kenneth Tyson. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Crim and Phillip Watts. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

BLOIS PEARSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Blois Pearson, 72, will be Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with The Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Pearson died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. He retired from Avondale Mills after 22 years of service. He was an avid fan of Little League Baseball, the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football. He is survived by sons, Kent Pearson and Mike Pearson and wife Sandy of Sylacauga; daughter, Kristy Harmon and husband Mike of Stewartville; granddaughters, April Clifton and husband Brian, Rachael Johnson and husband Bubba of Sylacauga; grandsons, Chad Pearson and wife Kelley, and Zach Pearson of Sylacauga; granddaughters, Shelley Harmon, Kacy Harmon and Ally Harmon of Stewartville; granddaughter, Alexis Brewer of Sylacauga; grandson, Austin Brewer of Leeds; granddaughter, Sandra Marcum of Sylacauga; grandson, Chris Decker of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Seth Clifton, C.J. Clifton, Noah Clifton and Mary Kate Clifton of Sylacauga, Ashlyn Johnson and Anna Grace Fields of Fayetteville, Tison Pearson and Caliegh Pearson of Sylacauga. BARBARA POINTER

SYLACAUGA — Barbara Pointer, 52, died on March 27, 2008 at University of Alabama in Birmingham. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Community Funeral Home.

JOHN THOMAS SHADDIX

EASTABOGA — Funeral service for The Rev. John Thomas Shaddix, 71, son of Pauline and Harry Shaddix, will be Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at Craig Memorial United Methodist Church. Chaplain Wes Geary, the Rev. Samuel Turner, the Rev. Rickey Green and the Rev. Doug Moore will be officiating. Burial will be at Shaddix Cemetery. John Thomas Shaddix died March 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Lincoln and lived in Eastaboga most of his life. He was a member of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. He moved to the North Georgia Conference in 1964. He served as a minister for 55 years. He retired after 22 1/2 years of service in the United States Army as a Chaplain (Lt. Col.). He was a member of the Eastaboga Masonic Lodge #155. the Rev. Shaddix possessed a stigma of Christian manhood which made him a man who knew no compromise if there was a principle at stake. He always believed that the color of a man's skin made no difference. He did not hesitate to speak clearly and without equivocation on any question, but with such Christian tolerance and kindness, that even those who disagreed with him respected and honored him. For seven years he fought for health, dreaming of a time when he could take up his work again. His ministry was such an obsession that he never lost interest. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty years, Dorothy M. Shaddix of Eastaboga; daughter and son-in-law, Trina and Ray Pettis of Eastaboga; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and John Germany of Talladega; son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Rachel Shaddix of Eastaboga; grandchildren, Malissa Pettis, Ethan Pettis, Heidi Germany, James-David Germany, Holt Shaddix, Jordin Shaddix, Jewels Shaddix and Hayleigh Poole; sister, Diane McCurry of Munford; and brother, Rufus Earl Shaddix of Portland, Oregon. Visitation will be Friday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lincoln High School Class of 1955 and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Flowers will be accepted or donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Usrey-Brown Service Funeral Home will direct the services.

WILLIE MAE WARWICK

TALLADEGA — Mrs. Willie Mae Warwick, 97, died March 27, 2008 at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.
