JOSEPH EDMOND BUTLER JR.

PELL CITY — Joseph Edmond Butler Jr., 71, passed away April 30, 2008 in Pell City. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will announce arrangements.

LILLIE CRUMPLER

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Lillie L. Crumpler, 85, will be at on Saturday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga. the Rev. Fred Jemison officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Crumpler passed on April 24, 2008 at her residence in Milwaukee. She is survived by three sisters, Vera Wilson of Sylacauga, Delois Taylor of Dayton, OH, and Gwendloyn Hale of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law, Billy Hale; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at on Friday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home Chapel. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.

Pallbearers will be family and friends of the family. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

HELEN C. JOHNSON

WASHINGTON — Graveside service for Helen C. Johnson, 78, will be Saturday, May 3, at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 in Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer D. and Jennie Coffey; sisters, Annie Mae Mitchell, Dorothy Jones; brothers, Hubert, Roy, Homer D. Coffey Jr. and Granvil Bond; and by her grandson, Craig Addison Lusk. Helen was born at home in Wheeler, Ala., the youngest of eight children. She attended Town Creek High School, where she graduated and was voted Miss Hazelwood 1948. With her beautiful, long, curly, brown hair and striking good looks, she attracted the attention of a handsome taxi driver, Bill Johnson, while she was working at the local drug store in Sylacauga. They fell in love and were married Oct. 27, 1949. As much as we all loved her, God loved her more and needed her to come home to rest and rejoice. What a reunion they must be having now! All our love and prayers go with you Mother. She is survived by a son, Barry Johnson of Tracyton, WA; three daughters, Jane Handley of Olympia, WA, Pamela Johnson of Round Lake, IL, Jennifer Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Jerrie Horton of Sylacauga; four grandchildren, Cory Johnson, Tony Johnson, Mica Lusk, Heath Howerton; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony, Bailee, Michael and Emilee Johnson, Landon Craig Howerton. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MAGGIE MAE SARGENT ROBINSON

ASHLAND — Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Mae "Granny" Sargent Robinson, age 86, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Millerville Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Payne and John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in Millerville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday and until service time on Saturday. Benefield/Ashland in charge of the arrangements.

VERA H. SMITH

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Vera H. Smith, 77, will be at on Saturday, May 3, at 2:30 p.m. at the Pine Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sylacauga. Pastor Joseph A. Privette officiating. Burial will be in the Harper Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed on April 27, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga. She is survived by three sons, John Smith of Dayton, OH, Tony Smith and Eddie Smith both of Sylacauga; three daughters, Judy Pope, Mary J. Taylor and Neva Moon all of Sylacauga; special aunt, Eva Mae Patterson; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Friday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. for family hour. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.
