RUBY JEWELL COURSEY

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Ruby Jewell Coursey, 88, will be Sunday May 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the East Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Young and The Rev. Reggie Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at the Church cemetery. Mrs. Coursey passed away May 1, 2008 in Sylacauga. She is survived by son, Reuben (R.A.) Milam and his wife Elizabeth of Talladega; four grand-children, James Wilson Milam, Valerie Cook, Lynn Shirey, Stacy Shirey, seven Great grandchildren, David Lee Dockery, Denise Shirey, Heather Shirey, Savannah Shirey, Katelyn Shirey, Erica Cook, and Wesley Shirey. Active pallbearers are Eric Cook, James Wilson Milam, David Lee Dockery, Mark Shirey, Howard Lee Solley, Wayne Gallegly. Mrs. Coursey was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Providence Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

LILLIE CRUMPLER

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Lillie L. Crumpler, 85, will be at on Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga. the Rev. Fred Jemison officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Crumpler passed on April 24, 2008 at her residence in Milwaukee. She is survived by three sisters, Vera Wilson of Sylacauga, Delois Taylor of Dayton, OH, and Gwendloyn Hale of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law, Billy Hale; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.

Pallbearers will be family and friends of the family. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

THE REVEREND LEON GUNBY DEAN

SOUTH CAROLINA — the Reverend Leon Gunby Dean was born June 21, 1923 in Greer, South Carolina. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in 308th Airdrome Squadron. He graduated from Central Wesleyan College with a ministerial degree and served over 30 years as a minister in The Wesleyan Church across the Southeast. He passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline B. Dean. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Thomson, and his two grandchildren, Alex and Diana Thomson. Graveside Services were held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Pell City, Ala. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega directed the service.

HERBERT GREEN

CROPWELL — Funeral services for Herbert Green, 89, will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cropwell, Ala., with The Rev. Maurice Keller, The Rev. Willie Frazier, The Rev. Woodrow Johnson, and The Rev. Willie Posey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Cropwell, Ala. Mr. Green will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mr. Green died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Green was born March 2, 1919 in Cropwell, Ala. His parents were Linna (Beavers) Green and John Green. He was educated in St. Clair County School System. He was employed over 30 years at Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosea Beavers; parents, John and Linna Green; four sisters. Survivors are his wife, Tinnie L. Green and son, Arthur Green both of Cropwell, Ala.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

ANN FRANCES KING

ASHVILLE — Funeral services for Ann Frances King, 76 will be Monday, May 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with the Pastor Ken Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. She went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2008. She was an avid Bingo player and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her sons Jack and William King and her daughter-in-law Bonnie King. She is survived by her husband, Robert Nabors of Pinedale Shores; sons, David King of Pell City, James King of Ashville, Michael (Lula) King of Odenville; step-son Alan Nabors of Ashville;daughter, Alice Bailey of Pindale Shores; brothers, Walter Tegan of Ashville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday May 4, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

MIKE C. SANDERS

LINCOLN — Mike C. Sanders, age 66, of Lincoln passed away May 1, 2008 at Veterans Hospital in Birmingham. As he requested, his body will be donated to UAB for medical education. No services are planned at this time. He was member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. Mike graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T. He is survived by a daughter, Amy Sanders and a granddaughter, Taylor Nicole of Farmington, N.M. Stepson Terry Price, Grand Junction, Colorado and Stepdaughter Brenda Morgan, Farmington, N.M. One brother, George Sanders (Judy) Lincoln, Ala. and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and personnel in MICU and Safe Harbor for their care, kindness and considerations during Mike's stay there.

WILLIAM TERRY STRINGFELLOW

TALLADEGA — Mr William Terry Stringfellow, 76, died Friday, May 2 at his residence. Usrey Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

DOROTHY S. WATTS

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mrs. Dorothy S. Watts, oldest of 5 children, 85, of 2018 Airport Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42301 went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She was a native of Cordova, Alabama, moved to Owensboro Ky. in 1963. She also lived in Singapore for 10 years. She was employed at cotton mills & General Electric in the early years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church of Owensboro, Ky. She was involved in her church, a mighty prayer warrior, enjoyed making & selling flower arrangements, sequined sweat shirts, and crochet hand towels. She traveled to 37 Countries. She is survived by husband of 60 years, Fred, cared for her lovingly & faithfully over the past 3 years in the nursing home. Her sweet spirit will be missed, but as she sang so often, help us to take "One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus". Son, James F. Johnson of Tallahassee, Fl, Son & Daughter-in-Law, Glenn P. & Sharon Watts of Hendersonville, Tn, Son, Gary T. Watts of Owensboro, Ky, Daughter, Ramona J. Saare of Jasper, Indiana, Daughter, Karen K. Jacobsma of Templeton, Ca, 11 Grandchildren & 9 Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Doris Hallmark of Sylacauga, Al, Sister-in-Law, Helen Stewart of Birmingham, Ala. She was preceded in death by parents: Henry James & Erline Crowell Stewart, Infant Daughter: Janett Watts, Sister: Alice Machen & 2 Brothers: William Stewart & Thomas Stewart. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2008 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Usrey. Funeral service will be at Usrey Brown- Service Funeral Home, May 5, 2008, 4:00 p.m. with Robert Watts officiating. Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home, Talladega, will direct the service.

ADA LEE WHITE

SYCAMORE — Ada Lee White, 82, died on May 1, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Community Funeral Home.
