TARRICE SECBORN BRAZIER DMD WETUMPKA — Dr. Tarrice Secborn Brazier, D.M.D., 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Wetumpka Wednesday, May 7, 2008, following a courageous battle with leukemia. A memorial service will be at Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with visitation with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his only child, Zebbie and her husband, Richard Nix of Evergreen, Ala.; and two beloved grandchildren, Kelsey and Davis. Born July 30, 1938, in Pell City to the late Buster and Florene Brazier, Tarrice was an only child and was raised and attended school there and graduated from Pell City High School in 1956. He was a strong student and was motivated to further his education. He was the first in his family to attend college. Accepted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, he was initiated into the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity on Sept. 21, 1957 and was a true brother for life. There was never a bigger fan of Alabama football, he attended every game possible, always taking family members and sharing the experiences with his many fan friends. Many seasons included Tarrice in the stadium for every home game and many away games, cheering on the Tide through good years and not so good years. He was also an avid white-water rafting enthusiast and deep sea fisherman, once winning the Destin Rodeo with the largest white marlin. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1961, Tarrice entered dental school and earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama in 1965. Thereafter, he began a long and successful dental practice, first in Georgiana, then in Montgomery, helping many patients over the years. He was a member in good standing of the Alabama Dental Association all of his professional life, and was elected to lifetime membership in 2003. He was also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Delta, a national dental fraternity. Dr. Brazier was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church, serving faithfully on the Board of Stewards and on mission trips to Central and South America. Alabama Heritage Funeral Home directing. DANIEL S. ESTES FAYETTEVILLE — Funeral service for Daniel S. Estes, 88, will be Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Charles Kornegay and the Rev. Ronnie Forbus officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Estes passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was Baptist by faith and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Lee Stokes Estes and Henry Beaman Estes. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ruth M. Estes of Fayetteville; daughter, Sherri Gardo of Kings Mountain, NC; brother, Robert Estes of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Chastity Gann of Greenville, SC, and Jody Gann of Birmingham; great-grandson, C.J. FOMBY LINCOLN — Services for Mr. Willie F. Fomby, 62, will be Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Baptist Church with Elder Delphine Blake officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Mr. Fomby died Monday, May 5, 2008 in Trinity Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Bettye Fomby; three sons, Mark Carter, Zachary Scott Fomby both of Pell City, Christopher Allen Fomby of Talladega; five daughters, Kimberly Beavers of Talladega, Barbie (Jimmy) Mcclain of Pell City, Farlandra Bradford of Lincoln, Arneetra Fomby, Erica Fomby both of Pell City; mother, Sarah Embry; three brothers, Lovell Embry of Louisville, Ky, Warren Embry of Talladega, Albert Nixon of Talladega; five sisters, Bernell Fomby of Lincoln, Millie Glover of Talladega, Denita Embry of Birmingham, Delphine Blake, Shelia Duckett both of Gadsden, Brenda (Ricky) Cochran of Talladega; 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives. RUTH CHRISTINE HONEYCUTT SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for Ruth Christine Honeycutt, 83, will be Saturday, May 10, at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating. Ms. Honeycutt passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She is survived by a son, Jerry W. Honeycutt and wife Shera Lou of Sylacauga; three grandchildren, Chris Honeycutt and wife Rebecca, Anne Potts and husband Alan and Emily Milam and husband Brent; and five great grandchildren, Lauren Potts, Madeline Potts, Cody Honeycutt, Houston Honeycutt and Caleb Honeycutt. Visitation will be Saturday, May 10, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service. WILLIE LEE "CHICKEN BILL" LEDFORD ALPINE — Funeral services for Mr. Willie Lee "Chicken Bill" Ledford, 79, will be Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Leonard and the Rev. Richard Fair officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Alpine. Mr. Ledford will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mr. Ledford passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. He was educated in the Talladega County School System, employed by Allen Excavating Company as a heavy equipment operator, member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Labor Local 559. He was preceded in death by his son, Spencer; parents, Otis (Lula) Ledford; a grandson, seven brothers and one sisters. He is survived by his wife, Eva L. Garrett Ledford of Alpine; sons, Audrey (Sandy) Garrett, Stanley Ledford, Terry (Evelyn) Ledford, Samuel (Sarah) Ledford all of Alpine; daughters, Bertha (Alvin) Clark of Los Angeles, Calif., Cynthia (Joe) Briggins, Jean (Emmett) Garrett, Sandra (Michael) Tuck, Jacquelyn (Eli) Johnson all of Alpine, Teresa (Willie) Robinson of Greenville, Ala.; brother, Clarence (Barbara) Ledford of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Rose L. MARY NELSON TALLADEGA — Mary Nelson, age 71, passed away May 8, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Birmingham. Services will be given later by Talladega Funeral Home. ELSIE REBECCA THRASHER ELLAVILLE, Ga. — Mrs. Elsie Thrasher, age 83, died early Thursday morning, May 8, 2008. A native of Etowah County, Ala., Mrs. Thrasher was born Feb. 17, 1925, daughter of the late Marshall Sumter Thrasher and Gertrude Tomlin Thrasher. She was a member of the Talladega Rescue Squad in Talladega and past president of the Talladega Creek Baptist Church WMU. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. EST, Saturday, May 10, in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Damon Fountain, the Rev. William Hall and John Brodess officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. CST in Talladega at Oak Hill Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Willadean and Joseph Allen of Ellaville, Ga., and Donia and Ronnie McCrary of Americus, Ga.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bobby and Janice Thrasher, Roger and Linda Thrasher all of Talladega, Samuel Thrasher of Ashland and Thomas and Laura Thrasher of Warner Robins, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Thrasher of Ellaville, Ga.; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard W. Thrasher on Sept. 26, 1997.
