Maurice Keller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Cropwell. Mrs. Beavers will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mrs. Beavers died June 21, 2008 in Ragland. She was educated in the St. Clair County School System and Gadsden State Community College; and a security guard for Vincent Security. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Pickett Sr. She is survived by daughters, Brandi Beavers (Sherman Swain) of Pell City and Quonta Beavers (Allen Hayes) of Moody; mother, Dorothy L. She is survived by a son, Edward McDaniel; five daughters, Mary Ellen Calhoun, Shirley Owens, Josephine Lawson, Sandra Clark and Sheila Herron; two brothers, Wallace Vandegrift and Billy Joe Vandegrift; two sisters, Betty Jean Nelson and Pauline Woodard; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. VILLA RICA, Ga. — Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Ann McGhee Love, 52, formerly of Talladega, will be Saturday, June 28, at 1 p.m. at Harvest Church of God, 520 Golden Springs Road, Anniston, with Pastor Jerry Irwin, Pastor Don Maddox and the Rev. Johnny Twymon officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Anniston. Mrs. Love will lie in repose at the church from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Mrs. Love died June 22, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Austell, Ga.. She was educated in the Talladega County School System; employed by Tanner Hospital in Carrollton, Ga.; former member of Africa Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Harvest Church of God. She was preceded in death by her father, Ben McGhee. She is survived by sons, Demetrius (Kimberly) McGhee of Anniston, Marshelley McGhee of Atlanta, Ga., and Courtney McGhee of Villa Rica, Ga.; mother, Annie McGhee of Villa Rica, Ga.; sisters, Earnestine Seals of Villa Rica, Ga., and Janet (Rudolph) Reynolds of Childersburg; and grandchild, Darius McGhee of Anniston.

SYLACAUGA — Willie (Bill) Payne formerly of Birmingham, went home to be with his Lord on the morning of June 26, 2008 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Lake Payne of Sylacauga; daughter, Sharon Payne Hardy of Sylacauga; son, William H. Payne Jr. (Gayla) of Sylacauga; granddaughter, Dr. Denise Hardy McKinney (Matthew) of Cumming, Ga.; grandson, James Howard (Jay) Hardy of Sylacauga; great grandchildren, Ethan John and Emma Rose McKinney, Colton Reed Hardy and Jacoby Matthew Carden; daughter-by-choice, Brenda Williams Howell; sisters, Dortha Mae Bradley of Trussville, Myrl Wren of Tuscaloosa and Ruby Nell Blythe of Oneonta; and brothers, Charles Payne of Oneonta and D.F Payne of Allgood. He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Pierce Payne; his parents, Will Henry and Margie Terrell Payne of Oneonta; brothers, Carl Payne, Hoyt Payne and Kline Payne; sister, Joycie Payne Smith; and son-in-law, John Glenn Hardy. Mr. Payne served his country in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign with the U.S. Army during World War II having been awarded two Purple Hearts, two oak leaf clusters, and a Bronze Star Meritorious Unit Award. He received a Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Ribbon (Japan), Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and two Headquarters 77th Infantry Div 15 Overseas Service Bars. He marched with the Statue of Liberty Company across the Philippines to Japan. Mr. Payne was on a battleship off the coast of Japan when the Japanese surrendered. He served 18 months occupational duty in Japan after the war ended. Mr. Payne is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. While in the Army, Mr. Payne was trained to drive a transport vehicle used to rescue prisoners of war after the end of the war. This training led to a lifetime career in transportation. He owned his own trucking company for most of his forty-five year career having driven over three million accident free miles. Mr. Payne retired from Teamsters and was a job steward for the Locale 612. He was the oldest member of Oldfield Baptist Church serving in many lay capacities with special emphasis on the needy, elderly and widowed. Mr. Payne was a very benevolent person who was known for giving back to his family, friends and community.
