CALVIN H. BASSETT SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Mr. Calvin H. Bassett, 70, will be Tuesday, July 15, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Rev. Don Grice and the Rev. Ronnie Forbus officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Mr. Bassett passed away July 13, 2008 at his residence. He lived in Childersburg most of his life and he was self-employed for years. He worked at National Standards in Columbiana. Survivors are a son, Jason Bassett and wife Crystal of Pell City; granddaughter, Taylor Rae Bassett of Pell City; brothers, James L. Bassett and wife Margaret and David Bassett and wife Edith all of Childersburg; and ex-wife, Joyce Raines of Sylacauga. Online registry at www.mem.com. TALLADEGA — Mr. George Dewey Durham Jr., age 88, passed away July 14, 2008 at the Clay County Nursing Home in Ashland. Services will be given later by Talladega Funeral Home. MARY JO GRAY RAGLAND — Mrs. Mary Jo Gray, 58, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 in Ragland. Survivors are her special friend, John Colwell of Ragland; daughters, Jody (Mike Carr) Gray of Pell City, Jennifer (Johnny) Hill of Pell City; son, James (Keri) Gray of Garland, Texas; sisters, Betty (Karl) Williams of Alta Loma, Calif., Sue (Todd) Meyers of Kalamazoo, MI, Teresa (David) Moore of Kalamazoo, MI; brothers, Bill (Nedra White) Dozeman of Lawton, MI, Paul (Mary) Dozeman of Portage, MI, Gary (Debbie) Dozeman of Atlanta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Donald Guastella of Paw Paw, MI; granddaughters, Krystal Vaughan of Garland, Texas, Sarah DeRanger and Laura Gray both of Pell City; and grandsons, Christopher DeRanger and Chandler Hill both of Pell City. RALPH ELLIS GREEN TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Mr. Ralph Ellis Green, 62, will be Tuesday, July 15, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Talladega, with the Rev. Jeff Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Green died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Regional Medical Center, Anniston. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, member of Stockdale Baptist Church, retired from Anniston Army Depot and a Veteran of Vietnam. Survivors are his wife, Ruby Green of Talladega; daughters, Samantha Green Butler and Heather Green Spratlin both of Talladega; granddaughters, Savannah Rose Butler, Scarlett Elise Butler and Kyla Grace Spratlin all of Talladega; grandson, James Evan Spratlin of Talladega. Pallbearers are Curt Mayo, Frank Mayo, Bill Lackey, Gary Highfield, Stanley Mayo and Dustin Butler. Honorary pallbearers are the employees of General Dynamics Land Systems. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service. RONNIE W. HAZELWOOD TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Ronnie W. Hazelwood, 43, was Monday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery. the Rev. Alton Smith officiated. Mr. Hazelwood died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Citizens BMC. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a brick mason by trade and was employed by Precision Masonry. He is preceded in death by his father, Sterling John Hazelwood Jr.; and his mother, Joan Medley Hazelwood Thrasher. He is survived by his wife, Deanie Hazelwood; step-father, Roger Thrasher of Talladega; four sisters, Susan Hazel of Munford, Tammy Lee of Leeds, Pam Hazelwood of Georgia and Natasha Hazelwood of Georgia; four brothers, Steven Hazelwood of Florida, Johnny Hazelwood of Oxford, Shane Hazelwood of Talladega and Jonathan Hazelwood of Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jonathan Hazelwood, Daniel Hazel, Terry Bullard, Jeffery Ledbetter, Scotty Bullard and Chris Bullard. Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home directed the service. IDELLA WILLIAMS JOHNSON MISSISSIPPI — Idella Williams Johnson, 83, formerly of Childersburg, died July 10, 2008 in McComb, MS. Arrangements will be announced by Childersburg Mortuary. EDWARD (GENE) LANDERS SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Edward (Gene) Landers, 40, will be Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. David Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Fayetteville Cemetery, Sylacauga. Mr. Landers died July 13, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Landers; father, Ira Edward Landers; and sister, Teresa Ann Macon. Survivors are mother, Brenda Fay Landers; sisters, Denise Richardson and husband Mike and Kendra Smith and husband Ty all of Sylacauga. JAMES FRANKLIN LIMBAUGH CLANTON — James Franklin Limbaugh, 76, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Hatley Health Care, Clanton. He was born on Tuesday, April 26, 1932 in Talladega, son of the late W.R. Limbaugh and the late Ruby J. Stinson. He was an ironworker. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Limbaugh of Clanton; son, Mr. Michael Vickers of Alpine; four daughters, Mrs. Melissa Dudney of Childersburg, Mrs. Kim Whitfield of Harpersville, Ms. Keila Limbaugh of Harpersville and Mrs. Moffey Frost of Sylacauga; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be at Tuesday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Earl Hilyer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Childersburg. (White) Muncher, 73, will be Thursday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Chapel, Pell City, with the Rev. Roger Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Ragland United Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Muncher died Saturday, July 12, 2008. She was an employee of the Jefferson County Board of Education for 25 years. Bette was a wonderful and very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family would like to thank all their friends and relatives for the calls, cards and concern during their time of needed prayers and support with a special thanks to New Beacon Hospice. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Inez White; and by her brother, Donald White all of Ragland. Spidell, 93, will be at on Wednesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Sylacauga. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. the Rev. Bobby Harris officiating. Mrs. Spidell passed on July 11, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Snow of Sylacauga and Fannie Brown of Detroit, MI; three sons, Leon Spidell of Sylacauga, Walter Spidell of Detroit, MI, and Willie Spidell of Louisville, KY; 25 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Flower bearers will be the friends of the family. Visitation will be at on Tuesday from 12-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.
