Burial will be in Vincent The Revival Center Cemetery. Mr. Fleming went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on July 27, 2008. He was preceded in death by his dad, Jimmy Fleming; stepfather, Mac McClendon. Mr. Fleming worked at Bowater Saw Mill for 27 years. He loved his family, fishing and hunting. Survivors are his loving wife, Ruby J. MILLBRAE, Calif. — Elizabeth (Liz) Stephens-Friley, who loved the Lord, joined him Tuesday evening, July 15, 2008, at her home, surrounded by family and friends, in Millbrae, California, after a courageous eight year struggle with breast cancer. Elizabeth resided in Talladega for several years, during which time she was employed with Brannons, Inc. and Talladega Machinery. She ended her short life and career as a Sr. Staff Consultant. She is survived by her husband, Steven Friley; two daughters, Madison and Adara; cherished daughter of Danna and Al Grochol residing in California and John and Karen Stephens in Talladega; dear sister of John Eldon (Duce) Stephens II of Atlanta, Georgia and Lindsey Prestridge of Talladega. She is survived by many family members and friends who loved her dearly. Born at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, age 46 years, a "Celebration of Life" Service was held Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Calvary Chapel, in San Mateo, Calif. TALLADEGA — Graveside Rites for Mr. Jack Edward Harris, 74, will be Tuesday, July 29, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Rodriguez officiating. Mr. Harris died Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Talladega. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, member of the Baptist faith and retired from Talladega creamery (Mellow Dairy). Survivors are a sister, Vera Edna Gambrell of Talladega; brother-in-law, James M. Machen of Alpine; several nieces and nephews. Visitation is Tuesday, July 29, from 2-3:30 p.m. at Usrey.

VINCENT — Funeral services for Leola Kidd, 92, will be at on Wednesday, July 30, at 12 noon at the Baker's Grove Baptist Church in Vincent. Burial will be in the church cemetery. the Rev. Donald Taylor officiating. Mrs. Kidd passed on July 25, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Kidd had numerous accomplishments throughout her lifetime. She received a B.S. degree from the Alabama State University in Montgomery and a master's degree in education from Tuskegee Institute. She taught in a one-room school in 1934 at Mt. Sinai, Alpine and from the years of 1935-1976, she taught at Hannah Mallory School in Alpine. After retirement, she performed community service as manager of foods for the Vincent area, a headstart worker during the summer with the children of Alpine in Talladega County and she received a special certification in community service at Pennsylvania State Community College. Her later years included serving as an adult Sunday school teacher, adult teacher in the Shelby Springs Sunday School Conference, member of Eastern Star (McGhee), Heron Jericho, Deaconess Wives' Club, Alabama Retirement Association, National Teachers' Association, Talladega Teachers' Association and as a notary public. She is survived by her son, Frederick (Margaret) Kidd of Vincent; daughter-in-law, Lillie Kidd of Vincent; three sisters-in-law, Mattie Hamilton of Vincent, Hattie Jones of Detroit, MI, and Juanita Hall of California; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family. Flower bearers will be nieces and friends of the family. Visitation will be at on Tuesday from 12-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

TALLADEGA — Mr. James Merril Lashley, 78, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Magnolia Place, in Lincoln. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, member of Central Baptist Church were he attended Adult Men's Sunday School Class and served on the board of Deacons, member of Talladega Masonic Lodge 261 and Train Collector's Association. He was retired from Anniston Army Depot. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Ruth Lashley of Talladega; sons, Jimmy Lashley and wife Ginger of Guntersville, Bobby Lashley and wife Rebecca of Woodstock, Ga., Larry Lashley and wife Donna of Talladega; five grandchildren, Morgan, Madeline, Trey, Mallory, and Jason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Lois Lashley. Services will be at Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 29, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Max Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 28.
