CHARLOTTE ANN ALLEN LINCOLN — Graveside service for Charlotte Ann Allen, 67, will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens, Oak Lawn, Illinois. Ms. Allen died July 30, 2008. Survivors are a special loved one, Kenneth Agnew; daughter, Amanda Agnew; brother, Raymond Joseph Sieffert Jr.; sister, Virginia Catherine Rose Kerr; two grandchildren, Americle Lewis and Ayoliyone Dunn; and many special friends and extended family. BETTY JOYCE BRYANT SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Betty Joyce Bryant, 60, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Bryant died July 31, 2008 at Sylacauga Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Bryant; and mother, Lucille Watford. She was a member of Valley View Church of God. Survivors are a daughter, Patrenia Collins and husband Philip of Sylacauga; granddaughters, Allie and Addison Collins; father, Bud Etress and wife Charlotte of Sylacauga. KATHERLINE COWLIN CHILDERSBURG — Funeral services for Katherline Cowlin, 80, will be at on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Childersburg. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Talladega Springs. the Rev. Robert Hatten officiating. Ms. Cowlin died on July 26, 2008 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Hamilton of Boston, MA, and Bettye Johnson of Childersburg; three sons, Johnny Hamilton, Howard Hamilton and Charles Hamilton all of Childersburg; three sisters, Daisy Hamilton of Talladega, Essie Brown and Evelyn Ware both of Sylacauga; 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Detrick Crowe, Ron Johnson, Lamont Hamilton, Roderick Hamilton and Brian Brazier. Flower bearers will be granddaughters. DETHEL HONEYCUTT GUY CLANTON — Dethel Honeycutt Guy, 94, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Trinity Hospital, Birmingham. She was born on Saturday, Jan. 17, 1914 in Chilton Co., daughter of the late Houston Honeycutt and the late Pearl Robinson Honeycutt. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Betty G. (Bill) Latta; four grandchildren, Dr. Stacey (Dr. Carol) Headley, Leigh (Dr. Doug) Cound, Cindy (Gale) Mendenhall, Mary (Glen) Krause; seven great grandchildren, Arthur Miles Headley, Shelby Guy Headley, Marcie (Jason) Boren, Hunter Roberts, Ana Krause, Virginia Leigh Cound, John Douglas Cound; two great-great grandchildren, Hannah Boren and Blake Boren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arley Guy; and daughter, Vera Guy (Hunter) Roberts. Friends will be received from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bell Lane Baptist Church, Clanton. DOYAL EDWIN HAMILTON TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Doyal Edwin Hamilton, 73, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. in Midway Memory Gardens Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Collett and the Rev. Jeff Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hamilton died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He retired from West Point Stevens after 18 years of service. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cigle and Ina Hamilton. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hamilton; daughters, Rhonda Collier of Talladega, Deborah Butler of Tampa, FL, and Janice Wilkerson of Auburn; one son, Anthony (Louise) Pressley of Talladega; three sisters, Ruth Hay of Sylacauga, Glenda (Horace) Patterson of Sycamore and Doris Liner of Sycamore; one brother, Charles (Margaret) Hamilton of Childersburg; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. JOHNNY WAYNE LOVETT SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Johnny Wayne Lovett, 47, will be Sunday, Aug. 3, at 3 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in Talladega Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. Lovett died July 30, 2008 at Brookwood Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carmenita Lovett. He was a 1979 graduate of Fayetteville High School and served as a deacon at First Free Will Baptist Church for 20 years. Survivors are his wife, Darlene Lovett; sons, Brett Lovett (Carman) and Bradley Lovett; daughter, Krystle Lovett (Alex); granddaughter, Alaina Griffin all of Sylacauga; brothers, Ernie Lovett (Dee Dee) of Sylacauga and Wayne Lovett of Bessemer; sisters, Kathy Culver (David) of Sylacauga, Vicky Thornton (Glen) of Sylacauga and Rita Kelley (Harold) of Sylacauga; brother-in-law, Daryle Smith (Mandy) of Auburn; several nieces and nephews. LARRY "SHAG" McGINNIS HARPERSVILLE — Mr. Larry "Shag" McGinnis, age 56, On Sunday, July 27, 2008 the angels summoned and this precious soul exchanged time for eternity and was granted eternal rest. Shag matriculated in the Shelby County School System and was a proud graduate of Vincent High School Class of 1970. Larry was a dedicated and faithful employee at E.C. Mitchell Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery with Anniston Funeral services in charge. The body will be at the church two hours prior to services. Mrs. Mitchell died on July 25, 2008 at her home in Akron, Ohio. Survivors include five daughters, Ms. Linda Batties, Akron, OH, Ms. Martha K. Mitchell, Atlanta, Ga., Ms. Mary V. Hamilton, Ms. Debra P. Simmons, and Ms. Mae Frances (Alvin Smith) Funderburg all of Talladega, Ala.; two sons, Pastor Edward E. (Eva) Mitchell Sr. of Fayetteville, NC, and Mr. Darryl B. Mitchell of Talladega, Ala.; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; a special godson, Mr. Larry Reynolds. Ms. Mitchell was a Talladega native and a member of Mt. WALTER GURVUS RAGSDALE SYLACAUGA — Funeral service with full military honors for Walter Gurvus Ragsdale, 84, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Rouse, the Rev. James Beam and the Rev. Bill Lollar officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Emeus Cemetery in Cullman County. The body will lie in state at Emeus Baptist Church in Cullman County from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Ragsdale died July 31, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was a member of Westside Church of God. He retired after ministering the gospel in the Church of God in Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky for some 60 years. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving in World War II on the U.S.S. South Dakota in the Pacific Theatre. After retiring from the ministry, he worked at Southern Alloy for about four years. He then worked at Piggly Wiggly for some six years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Alldredge Ragsdale; mother and father, Bessie and Marvin Ragsdale; and brothers, Hershel, Little J.C. and Roy Ragsdale. Survivors are his wife of 30 years, Annie Lee Ragsdale of Sylacauga; son, Jerry Ragsdale and wife Juanita of Summit, MS; brother, Dwight Ragsdale of White Bluff, Tenn.; sisters, Vera Thornton and husband Welcome of Cullman, Vola Graves of Bolivar, Tenn., Vonnie Grayson and husband Clarence of Lincoln Park, MI, and Sue Horr of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Teresa Lollar and husband Bill, Tammy Field and husband Craig, Renee Latham and husband Kenny, Billy Herren and wife Kim, Brandi Hood and husband Tim and Tonya Olive; great grandchildren, Amanda Field, Rachael Morrison and husband Jeremy, Billy Lollar III, Kayla Latham, T.J. BETTY LOU KIRKSEY TURNER TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Betty Lou Kirksey Turner, 92, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. at Lilly Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Curtis Seals and Hardy Reynolds Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m. Mrs. Turner died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at her residence. She was educated in the Talladega City System, retired from the Talladega City Board of Education, a member of Lilly Hill Baptist Church where she was treasurer and a member of the choir and missionary society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. TeEster Turner Sr.; a son, Mr. John Henry Turner; and her parents, Mr. Jack Kirksey and Mrs. Willie Morris Kirksey; a brother, Mr. Charlie Kirksey; and a sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Keith. Survivors are daughters, Mrs. Minnie (Norman) Cochran of Ossining, NY, Mrs. Yvonne (Willie) Wilson of Talladega, and Mrs. Doris (Robert) Mack of St. Augustine, FL; sons, Mr. TeEster Turner of Newport News, VA, Mr. Willie C.
