MARY MARTHA BELL SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for Mary Martha Bell, 90, will be Thursday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Stanford officiating. Mrs. Bell died Aug. 19, 2008 at Goodwater Health Care, Goodwater. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jake Matson and James Bell. She worked for many years as a registered nurse. Survivors are a step daughter, Polly B. Banks of Sylacauga; step granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Banks of Portland, Ore.

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. — Sarah Williams Douglas, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga with the Rev. Tommy Bounds officiating. Mrs. Douglas was a native of Mt. Olive, Ala., and was a member of the Mignon United Methodist Church. She was a retired insurance clerk. Mrs. Douglas attended the Broad Street Baptist Church and The Sanctuary Sunday School Class in Hawkinsville, Ga., and was a wonderful cook.
Survivors include two sons, Charles B. (Charlene) Douglas of Hawkinsville, Ga., and Michael A. (Ann) Douglas of Jessup, Ga.; seven granddaughters and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2-2:45 p.m. at the Curtis and Son Funeral Home, 1315 Talladega Road, Sylacauga, Ala, on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sylacauga. Mrs. Joiner died Aug. 19, 2008 at Sylacauga Health Care. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Joiner; parents, Eva and Wes Bolton; brothers, James Bolton and Jake Bolton; and sisters, Gwen Ivey and Evelyn Fryer. Survivors are daughters, Barbara and David Middleton, Demareth "Marty" and Wayne Brasher and Angela and Alfred Wilson all of Sylacauga; brothers, Lyndol Bolton of Sylacauga, Charles Bolton of Sylacauga and Coy Bolton of Millerville; sisters, Mathel White of Brentwood, Tenn., Eulene Tucker of Uriah, Ala., and Christnueve Smitherman of Trussville; grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Murphy, Cindy Williams, David and Angie Brasher and Bethany Hawk; great grandchildren, Kaylee Furnari, Trey Furnari, Levi Parker, Brantlee Brasher, Katelynn Letcher and Libby Letcher; and a host of nieces and nephews. TALLADEGA — Graveside services for Mr. Hillard Whitt McMichael, age 94, will be Friday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. McMichael passed away Aug. 20, 2008 at his home. Survivors are one daughter, Bertha June Edmiston (Harry) of Talladega; one son, Billy Joe McMichael (Jean) of Talladega; seven grandchildren, Crystal Smith, Jessica Williams, Elizabeth Cotton, Kelsey Ward, Phyllis Ingram, Debra Stthe Revel and Steve Spears; and eight great grandchildren. Mr. McMichael is preceded in death by his wife, Velma McMichael; parents, Dee and Ollie McMichael; two sons, Harvey Lee and Darby Lee McMichael; one daughter, Joyce Spears; son-in-law, Billy Spears; three sisters, one brother and one grandson. Mr. McMichael was a native of Clay County but had lived most of his life in Talladega County. He was of the Baptist faith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.
