RALPH BAIRD GOODWATER — Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Baird, age 57 of Goodwater, were Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church. the Rev. Ben Milam officiated. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Baird passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at the Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Clay County where he had lived most of his life but had lived in Goodwater for the past 15 years. He was a truck driver for Hawkins Logging Company, Shaddix Lumber Company and Whitehead Trucking Company for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Eulalah Baird of Goodwater; two daughters: Joney Ramos (Armando) and Sabrina Hallman (Timothy) of Goodwater; two sons: Michael Baird (Ginger) and Johnny Baird (Carmen Farrow) of Goodwater; three sisters: Ruth Hand of Dadeville, Linda Colquitt and Alice Hallman of Goodwater; two brothers: Russell Baird of Alexander City and Ellis Baird of Goodwater; plus 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard William Baird and Minnie Lee Adams Baird, two brothers and five sisters.
Pallbearers were Johnny Trigg, Jeremiah Gillum, Calvin Jones, Bobby McLure, Phillip Grogan and John Gardner. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Price and Ronnie Gardner. Burial followed in the Greenview Cemetery in Goodwater. Mr. Fowler passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at Russell Medical Center. He was born on May 16, 1943 in Talladega County to Richard Fowler and Geneva Roberts Fowler. He was a barber and liked to fish. Mr. Fowler enjoyed holiday family gatherings and taking family trips. He is survived by his wife, Viola Victoria Brown Fowler of Alexander City; daughters, Karen, Teresa and Susan; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Charlotte Ann Gaither, Patricia Pilkington and Pamala Fowler; brothers, Steve Fowler, Jeffery Fowler, Darrell Fowler, Gregory Fowler, Joseph Fowler and Larry Fowler; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. CHILDERSBURG — Ocie Alford Grier, 75, died Nov. 11, 2008 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ila Belle Grier; and brother, Marvin Grier Sr. He was a resident of Childersburg and graduated from Childersburg High School in 1951. He was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served with the Air Force. TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Rosa Mae White, 55, will be Friday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Welch, the Rev. Lanoah Ealy, the Rev. Eric Richardson and the Rev. Bobby Welch officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park, Talladega. Mrs. White will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mrs. White died Nov. 6, 2008 at her residence. She was a 1970 graduate of Westside High School, caregiver at Seraaj Family Homes Inc., member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she was an usher and member of the kitchen committee. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Jackson; mother, Inez Jackson; and brothers, Emmit and Willie Jackson.
