WORD LAMAR “LAZY DIESEL” HODGESSYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Word Lamar “Lazy Diesel” Hodges, 78, of Sylacauga will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Bill Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Hollins Cemetery.
Mr. Hodges died Thursday, Nov. 13, at his residence.
He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. His nickname was Lazy Diesel. He was a passionate person, he ministered to people everywhere. His favorite passage was, “There is a time and place for everything, relax God is in control.”
He is survived by his wife, Carol L. Hodges of Sylacauga; two sons, Phillip Hodges and wife Judy of Deltona, FL., and Patrick Hodges and wife Sharron of Newport, VA.; two daughters, Cheryl Hodges Green of Liveoak, FL., and Annabell Martin of Montano; brother, Eugene Hodges of Hollins, AL.; sister, Charlotte Gieges of Texas; 23 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be directed by Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel.
RACHEL B. “AUNT RACH” BENTLEY
SYLACAUGA – Funeral service for Rachel B. “Aunt Rach” Bentley, 87, of Sylacauga will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.
Mrs. Bentley died Friday, Nov. 14.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Bentley. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

MILDRED LEE CLIFTON
SYLACAUGA – Funeral service for Mildred Lee Clifton, 89, of Sylacauga will be Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Ray Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Lineville Cemetery.
Mrs. Clifton died on Friday, Nov. 14.
Baptist by faith-Redeemed Christian Fellowship Center,
she was preceded in death by her husband, Ocie Clifton; mother, Alma Shaner; father, John Lee Shaner; son, Bobby Lee Shaner; two brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Staton and husband Mackey of Talladega, Jean Mull and husband Bob of Sylacauga; and 14 grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 16, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be directed by Curtis and Son North Chapel.

SYCAMORE — Mrs. Glenda Lee Hughes, 62, of Sycamore, passed away on Nov. 15, 2008, at her residence.

TALLADEGA – Mr. Gunman Leonard “Speedy” Jemison, 70, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at his residence.

ALDUS FLOYD MARTIN
TALLADEGA – Graveside service for Mr. Aldus Floyd Martin, 86, of Talladega will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at 3 p.m. in Pine Hill Memorial Park with Mr. Dale Hill officiating.
Mr. Martin died on Saturday, Nov. 15.
He was a veteran of World War II, retired from USCS after 25 years of service and enjoyed being a guide at Sellwood Farms for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis C. Martin.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Rutherford; sister, Jessie Wade; sister, Madine Pitts; brother, J.T. Martin; a host of nieces and nephews; and special companion Lucky.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Contributions may be made to Comfort Care Hospice or the charity of choice.

GASTON D. WILLIAMS
TALLADEGA – Visitation for Mr. Gaston D. Williams, 91, of Talladega will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams died Friday, Nov. 14.
He is survived by his sister, Katie Osborne of Columbus, GA.; sister, Imogene Anderson of Jonesborough, TN.; sister, Carolyn Robinson of Talladega; and brother, Kenneth Williams of Pell City.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of World War II, native of St. Clair County, resident of Talladega, and retired from S&R Lumber Co.
The family requests no floral tributes.
