McCUTCHSON GEORGE ATKINSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for McCutchson George Atkinson, 89, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Dr. Lewis Archer and Dr. Todd Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Atkinson died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center. He was a Mason, 33rd degree. Survivors are his wife, June L. Atkinson of Sylacauga; sons, David Atkinson and wife Shelley of Stafford, VA, and Greg Atkinson and wife Cynthia of Sylacauga; two granddaughters, Anna Clara and Elizabeth Kate; brother, Hugh Atkinson of Adel, Ga.; sister, Edna A. Lusk of Sylacauga. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 5-7 p.m. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.

WILLIAM CHARLES BEARD

TALLADEGA — Memorial service for William Charles Beard, 66, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. with the family officiating. Mr. Beard died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Lamar Co., a retired police officer from Thorsby having been shot in the line of duty. Survivors are five sons, Timothy Beard, Kenneth Beard both of Talladega, Randy Beard of Macon, Ga., John Vieten and Chris Vieten both of Talladega; sister, Jeannett Garcia of Rock Island, Ill.; brother, Harwood Beard of Montevallo; grandchildren, Stephen and Stephanie Beard, Trenton Beard, Charity and Alisha Kearley and Miranda Donnelley. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct.

AVIS "BABY DOLL" PHILLIPS BEAVERS

ATLANTA, Ga. — Funeral services for Avis "Baby Doll" Phillips Beavers, 84, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens, Talladega. Mrs. Beavers died Nov. 14, 2008 at South Fulton Medical Center. She retired from Citizens Hospital after serving 36 years as a nurse. She was a member of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, graduated from Talladega County Training School, and received her RN degree from Wilmington School of Nursing, Wilmington, NC in 1950. She was preceded in death by father, Ir Phillips; mother, Charlotte Phillips; and son, Ira Phillips. Survivors are a daughter, Helen (Ed) Wallace of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Brandy (James) Daniels of Atlanta, Ga., Maple Phillips, Betty Phillips, Donald Phillips, Debron Phillips all of Talladega, Arthur Phillips of Tampa, FL, and Ira Phillips Jr. of Millbrook; sister, Mavis Carr of Saginaw, MI; brother, McFord Phillips of Louisville, KY; and surrogate daughter and friend, Edlean Lawler of Talladega. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct.

JAMES ROBERT "RABBIT" BROADWATER SR.

PELL CITY — Graveside service for James Robert "Rabbit" Broadwater Sr., 83, will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with the Rev. James Blair officiating. Mr. Broadwater died Nov. 15, 2008. Survivors are his wife, Mary Broadwater; son, James R. (Toni) Broadwater Jr.; brother, Charles Broadwater; two sisters, Martha Nale and Gladys Hilyer. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church building fund or bus fund. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

DARIN CRAIG CHRISTIAN

BIRMINGHAM — Darin Craig Christian, age 41 of Birmingham, passed away unexpectedly, Nov. 16 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and survived by his loving mother, Kay and his brothers, David (Debi) of Denniston, Ky. and Chris of Birmingham. There will be a gathering for friends and family at his mothers house on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.

IRMA SUE THRASHER FULMER

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Irma Sue Thrasher Fulmer, 72, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Kilgroe Chapel with the Rev. Whitt Hibbs officiating. Graveside service will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega. Mrs. Fulmer died Nov. 16, 2008 after a long courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Janice Fulmer; her parents, Marshall Leonard Thrasher and Gladys Williams Thrasher; and her brother, James Lynn Thrasher. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church, owned and operated Sears Catalogue Store from 1970 to 1993 then Fulmer Maytag from 1993 to 2000. She was employed with St. Vincent's St. Clair as PBX Operator since 2000. Survivors are her husband, William Kenneth Fulmer; two daughters, Sherri Denise Fulmer Taylor and Beth Chantal Fulmer Gerhardt; brother, Stanley Eugene Thrasher; two grandchildren, Brantley Kenneth Gerhardt and Kristen Noelle Gerhardt; and great grandchild, Camden Ryan Gerhardt. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

GLENDA HUGHES

SYCAMORE — Funeral service for Glenda Hughes, 62, will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Sycamore Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Billy Epperson and the Rev. Joe Teel officiating. Burial will be in Tallassahatchie Cemetery. Mrs. Hughes died Nov. 15, 2008, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, The Rev. Roy Hughes; daughter, Stephanie Hughes Epperson; and brother, Ricky Duncan. She retired from Imerys with 17 years of service. Survivors are a daughter, Sharlene Hughes Jenkins of Sycamore; sister, Darlene Waites of Sycamore; brother, Joseph Duncan of Sycamore; and grandchildren, Samantha Jenkins, Malena Jenkins, Christon Epperson and CarlLee Epperson.

Pallbearers are Johnny Frost, Johnny Machen, Lynn Perry, Rocky Alexander, Joshua Swain and Terry Swain. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

GUNMAN LEONARD "SPEEDY" JEMISON

TALLADEGA — Services for Mr. Gunman Leonard "Speedy" Jemison, 70, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Sims Funeral Service chapel with his brother, the Rev. Ronald Jemison Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Jemison was a member of Hall Grove Baptist Church, attended school at Hall Grove School in Munford and Westside School in Talladega. He also attended school and was employed at the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind. He pumped gas at Big-D Supermarket on Ft. Lashley Ave. He loved his friends and cars. Survivors are step-mother, Leavie H. Jemison of Munford; four brothers, Anthony J. Jemison (Benita) of San Diego, Calif., Andrew K. Jemison, Samuel R. Jemison (Rebecca) both of Atlanta, Ga., Ronald D. Jemison Sr. of Talladega; one sister, Perla Ann Buford (Royce) of Atlanta, Ga.; 11 step-siblings; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, George Lovell Jemison; mother, Annie Laura Jemison Cunningham; three brothers and one sister. Sims Funeral Service will direct.

TALLADEGA — Services for Mrs. Annie Laura Kidd, 72, will be announced by Sims Funeral Service. She died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton.

SYLACAUGA — The Rev Eddie L. King, age 83, the final steps of this good man were ordered by the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 as he ascended into eternal glory. This faithful "Man of the Cloth" was a diligent and dutiful servant of God and served as Pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Sylacauga for twenty years. He was a member of Adelphia Lodge #213, Consistory#202 Anniston, Inspector 33 Degree United Supreme Council, Scottish Rite Masonry along with many other civic associations. He was preceded in death by parents, Sim King Sr. and Lizzie McCain King; sisters, Margie, Romie, Zadie, Cora, Pearl, Mintora, Lillie, Vera and Ruby; and a brother, Sim Jr. Farewell celebration is Thursday, Nov. 20, 12 Noon at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with inhumation to follow at Sylacauga Cemetery with full military honors. Minister Nina Townsend, Interim Pastor and Minister C. Shaemun Webster, Eulogist. Calling hours Tuesday from 2-8:00 pm. and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. with a Masonic Ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. Mourners include a loving wife of 61 years, Mrs. Ethelene King; a devoted daughter, Mrs. Edwina (Leon) White; two beloved granddaughters, Shayla and Iris White; sister, Minnie Maddox of Jasper; and godchildren, Jennie (Lawrence) McGhee of Sylacauga, Charles (Mary Louise) Davis of Dale City, VA, and Lawrence (Makeisha) McGraw Jr. of Decatur, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and special friends.

TALLADEGA — Graveside Rites for Mrs. Brenda Fay Moon, 53, will be Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at Green Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Haywood officiating. Mrs. Moon died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at her residence. She was a native of Owens Cross Roads and lived in Talladega the past three years. Survivors are her husband, Thurman Preston of Talladega; three daughters, Charlotte Limbaugh of Huntsville, Brenda Cross of New Hope, Tammy Moon of Owens Cross Road; son, Albert Moon of Byron, Ga.; father, Hershel Jones of New Hope; and eight grandchildren. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct.

IDA MAE SHIREY

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Ida Mae Shirey, 73, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Wade officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Shirey died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Citizens BMC. She was a native of Clay County and a resident of Talladega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Shirey; father, Haydron Mitchell; three brothers, one grandson and one granddaughter. She is survived by her mother, Willie Mae Mitchell; two daughters, Susie (Ralph) Lockwood of Talladega and Loretta (Billy) Gill of Ashland; four sons, Jessie (Sue) Shirey, Donnie (Debye) Shirey, Jerry Wayne (Jerrie Ann) Shirey and Rodney (Christy) Shirey all of Talladega; one brother, George Mitchell of Talladega; five sisters, Idell Evans, Pauline Green, Rosemary Shulch, Arlean Mitchell of Talladega and Veralee Turner of Mississippi; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Shirey, Jessie Shirey, Jamie Martin, Donald East, Will McVey, Billy Gill Jr., Thomas Hinton and Scott Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Jacobs, Melvin Burkhalter, Greg Keef and Thomas Baker. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

DETROIT, MI — Mrs. Odessa Toyer, 86, formerly of Talladega, died Nov. 15, 2008 at her residence. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

ROSEMARY EDMONDSON WHITE

PELL CITY — Rosemary Edmondson White, age 68 of Pell City, passed away Nov. 16, 2008, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mrs. White was a lifelong resident of Pell City and a 1958 graduate of Pell City High School. She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She pthe Reviously attended Guiding Light Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. John W. Edmondson Sr.; her mother, Mrs. Mary Hamilton Edmondson; and her brother, Mr. John W. Edmondson Jr. all of Pell City. She is survived by her husband, Claude "Ted" White of Pell City; a son, Dennis White of Odenville; a granddaughter, Amanda White of Gadsden; a daughter, Lori White Bloodsworth; a son-in-law, Dana Bloodsworth; and a grandson, Christian Bloodsworth all of Oxford. She is also survived by a brother, L. Joe Edmondson of Nashville, Tenn.; and numerous nephews, nieces, and grand nieces and nephews. Chapel services will be on Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Chapel. Interment will follow at the St. Clair Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Ed Wilson, 78, will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Brasher and the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Interment will be in Valley Hill Cemetery. Mr. Wilson died Nov. 16, 2008. He was preceded in death by three sons, Michael Wilson, Billy Cosby and Hardy Joe Wilson. Survivors are three daughters, Janice Bishop, Pam Gragg and Darla Wheeler; six sons, Tommy Cosby, Danny Cosby, Steve Wilson, Faul Wilson, Greg Wilson and Eddie Wilson; 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the services.
