GEORGE McCONICO

VINCENT—Funeral service for George Arthur McConico, 69, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Evangel Temple Church in Vincent. Bishop Lodis McGregor officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Canaan Cemetery, Calcis, Alabama.

Mr. McConico passed on Nov. 18 at St. Vincent’s—St. Clair Hospital in Pell City.

He is survived by wife, Mattie McConico of Vincent, Al.; four daughters, Rose M. Hinkle and Nitha Estelle, both of Vincent, Al.; Yvonne McConico-Rogers of Fairburn, GA. and Fernessa McConico of Leeds, Al.; son George McConico of Vincent, Al.; five sisters, Mary Porter of Birmingham, Al., Charlie Mae Wilson of Boston, MA, Catherine McConico of Vincent, Al., and Odessa Owens of Anniston, Al.; four brothers, Peter McConico of Vincent, Al., Sherman McConico of Gary, IN, Lonzo McConico of Jeffersonville, IN. and Cornelius McConico of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday at the Funeral Home from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Family Hour will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

DOLLIE RUTH MILLER NEWMAN

SYLACAUGA—Funeral service for Dollie Ruth Miller Newman, 88, will be Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Rev. Jim Stanford and Rev. Charles Stone officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum.

Mrs. Newman died Nov. 21 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sylacauga.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Kermie L. Newman of Sylacauga; two daughters, Lynda Newman Hall (Ferris) of Gadsden and Nancy Newman Steverson (Ben) of Smith’s Station; seven grandchildren, Joy Harris, Emily Hall, Phillip Hall, Eric Steverson, Anna Senn, Adam Steverson and Abby Steverson; and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madison Harris, Morgan Hewell, Jackson and Lily Senn and Addie Steverson.

Pallbearers will be Eric Steverson, Adam Steverson, Philip Hall, Eric Senn, Jason Harris, Cody Hamilton, Ryan Hamilton and Jim Newman.

The family will accept flowers or memorials to the First Presbyterian Church in Sylacauga.

Sympathy cards may be sent to 1219 Grady Street in Rainbow City, AL 35906.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home will direct the service.

NELLIE RUTH BURK

TALLADEGA—Nellie Ruth Burk, 83, died Nov. 22, 2008 at 605 19th Street, Talladega.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

LILLIE COLEEN BYRD

SYLACAUGA—Funeral services for Lillie Coleen Byrd, 81, will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Blackmon and Rev. Donald Grice officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Byrd died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her husband Orbie Dixon Byrd, one daughter, Vivian Lovell Robinson, and four sisters, Vonzelle Marlow, Zella Scroggins, Beatrice Littleton and Edna Limbaugh.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by two daughters, Virginia Murphy and Wanda Jo Arnold, and one son, Chad Byrd, all of Sylacauga; two sisters, Jean Bannister of Harpersville and Gertrude Elder of Sylacauga; two brothers, Edward Duncan and Kenneth Duncan, both of Sylacauga; four grandchildren, Kristie Medley, John King, Audey Murphy and Crystal Lewis; seven great-grandchildren, Rusty Hartley, Justin Vickers, Shelbi Williams, Ariel Medley, Jacob Murphy, Trinity King and Blake Loggins, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ted Medley, Daniel Lewis, Todd Plier, Audey Murphy, Justin Vickers and Erin King.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

FRANKLIN DELANO CHANDLER

WETUMPKA—Graveside service for Franklin Delano Chandler, 74, of Wetumpka, will be Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with Mr. Chandler’s niece, the Rev. Doris E. Chandler, officiating.

Mr. Chandler died Friday, Nov. 21, at his residence. He was born and raised in Fayetteville.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce D. Chandler of Wetumpka; daughter Julia C. Killough (David) of Wetumpka; a brother, Earnest O. Chandler of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Christopher N. Finley (Ayten) of Auburn and Obed J. Ellis (Jen) of Wetumpka.

Pallbearers will be Ernest O. Chandler, Earnest O. Chandler Jr., Earnest O. Chandler III, Christopher N. Finley, Danny Percival and Jimmy McClure.

Donations may be made in Mr. Chandler’s name to the American Cancer Society.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

JACOYLON MONTREV CRAWFORD

CHILDERSBURG—Jacoylon Montrev Crawford, 16, died on Nov. 21, 2008.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

SYLACAUGA—Mrs. Ruby D. Rayfield of Sylacauga passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at her residence . Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will announce the arrangements.

LORENE C. WARD

SYLACAUGA—Funeral service for Lorene C. Ward, 84, of Sylacauga will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Brother Sonny Riggins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Ward died Thursday, Nov. 20 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard E. Ward, and two sons, William L. Ward and Willard E. Ward Jr. She was a faithful member of Mignon Church of Christ, and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte L. Butler of Sylacauga; daughter-in-law Lanetia Ward of Sylacauga; brother, Jim Collins of Alabaster; and three sisters, Gladys Harris of Arkansas, Myrtel Lynn Lawley of Tuscaloosa and Betty Lindsey of Georgia; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Ward, Billy Ward, Dennis Lindsay, David Lindsay and Butch Butler. Honorary pallbearer will be Coley Ward.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.
