The younger generation is often maligned when it falls short of expectations. But when a teen-ager emerges with a way to make a difference in people’s lives, it ought to be important enough to gain some positive recognition.
Such is the case of 13-year-old Regan Gaskin, who is spearheading an effort to provide “Build-A-Bears,” stuffed bears equipped with a voice box for a message. The message is for deployed military parents to record for their children to keep with them here at home.
It gives the child a sense of closeness to their parent even if they are at war across the world.
Regan and her mother, Susan Gaskin, are partnering with the Talladega County Chapter of the Red Cross to raise the money for the project.
And we encourage area citizens to donate while thanking the Gaskins for caring enough to get involved in such a special way.
