Tip of the hat: Learning to save

08-26-2008

It is life’s lesson that can never be learned too early. That’s why Valerie Harris’ fourth grade class at Talladega’s R.L. Young Elementary lined up to plunk down coins and bills to put their savings in the First Educators Credit Union.

The lesson is part of a program called STAR – Saving Teaches And Rewards – and students will learn how they can grow their money simply by saving, and they will be involved in a practical application of the Math they learn from a textbook.

It is a real life lesson that will help these children through life, and we commend the credit union and R.L. Young for making it part of the curriculum.
