Getting approval for a Certificate of Need for a new facility for St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital was considered the highest hurdle for St. Clair County’s years-long quest to build a new hospital in Pell City. Now that they have made it up and over, we hope it is all downhill from here, and citizens will be seeing a new and impressive medical complex going up in the future.
The new hospital will go a long way in keeping pace with the growing needs of the fastest growing county in the state. Health care is central to the lives of its citizens, and quality facilities should be at the heart of what St. Clair County has to offer.
The old hospital is simply outdated, and this proposed project will provide the kind of care and technology that is essential in today’s world.
Plans call for it to be located on the site near Jefferson State Community College along with a Veteran’s Nursing Home and a medical professional office building. The college is considering expanding its offerings to include a nursing program, and it appears the potential if all goes as planned is limitless.
We congratulate county and city officials, the health care authority and economic development representatives, all of whom have worked tirelessly to bring this project about.
In the years to come, their vision should prove to be a positive tipping point for the entire area.
