Childersburg Coosa Fest another success

09-30-2008

Citizens of Childersburg are proud of their city’s heritage, and they embrace the chance to put it on display.

That is why Coosa Fest, celebrating their belief that Childersburg, formerly Coosa, is the first settlement mentioned by explorer Hernando DeSoto in his travels in North America, is an important part of the city’s historical fabric.

Organizers promote Childersburg’s long and storied history, which is cause for celebrating and honoring the place they call home.

Saturday’s Coosa Fest was an opportunity to bring the community together for a time of fun, fellowship and festivities to suit just about any taste. And it was a chance to show what their city has to offer.

We salute the efforts of all involved in the Coosa Fest celebration. It is an integral part of the city’s history, and those who seek to preserve that heritage should be congratulated.
