Optimist Club of Talladega will conduct its annual oratorical contest starting at 6 PM in the Video Conference Room of Baynes Hall, Alabama School for Deaf, Talladega. Contestants must attend school or reside in Talladega or surrounding counties, cannot have graduated from high school or equivalent, and must not have had their 19th birthday by April 20, 2013. Home schooled students are encouraged to participate. Entrants must speak on the topic "Why My Voice is Important." Speech must be between 4 and 5 minutes. Local winner will receive $100 cash award and go forward to compete for a $2500 scholarship. No entry fee.
