CHILDERSBURG — An apparent argument at City Cuts and Fashion resulted in three people being shot Friday.

Police Chief Shane Burnett said apparently one of two people entering the shop from the back door began quarreling with a customer sitting in a barber’s chair. Guns were drawn and shots were fired before noon Friday.

One person was shot in the abdomen and leg, the barber was shot in the leg above the ankle, and a third person was shot in the forearm. Exit holes from the gun shots were visible in the front window of the shop, and glass in the back door was shattered.

Blood splatters left three trails out the front door leading to the parking lot of the shop and to the BP station next door. Two victims fell in the parking lot near fuel pumps, and a third victim ran into the BP station

Burnett said that in the course of the investigation, crack cocaine was confiscated from one of the victims. Investigators also recovered a gun at the scene.

The investigation continued while police waited for a search warrant because the barber shop is owned by a person who was not at the scene of the shooting.

Police declined to release the names of the victims and the incident is still under investigation. There had been no arrests as of late Friday.

Two of the shooting victims were flown by LifeSaver helicopter to University Hospital in Birmingham, while a third victim was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga.

Burnett said anyone with information regarding the incident should call police investigators at 256-278-5747.
