Jeff Bullen won the 2012 Coosa Pines Men’s Club Championship Tournament last weekend.

Bullen said the numerous hours that he spent on the golf course this summer played a role in his victory.

“That is something that I have strived to do for the last three or four years,” Bullen said. ”There are a lot of good golfers out there at Coosa Pines. This summer, I have been really working on my golf game. I just had a really good tournament.”

The win also marked the first time Bullen has won a golf tournament. Last year’s winner, Alan Pate, finished second as he shot five-under-par for the tournament. John Williams finished third in the tournament at three-under.

“The guy that I beat won the tournament seven times,” Bullen said. “I was real happy and excited about winning it. It felt good to win a tournament. That is something that I have wanted to do the last few years I have been living down here. I have played golf all of my life. I have been able to put a little bit more time into it with me not being a head coach. I have more time than I used to. I have always loved golf; it is a close number two to football.”

Going into the tournament, Bullen was having problems with his new putter. He said going back to one of his old putters made a huge difference in his game.

“I shot six-under for both days,” Bullen said. “I shot a 70 and a 68. I changed putters about three weeks ago, and I have been putting great since then. I went back to one of my old putters. That is one thing I don’t do; I don’t sell or trade any of my putters. I keep all my putters, because you never know when you are going to have to go back to one.”
