The state is already facing growing proration, and state officials say schools should expect more of the same next year.
As schools here tighten their belts, First National Bank is stepping in with its Cash for the Classroom program. The program is a monthly fundraising effort to encourage communities to help support the schools that serve them.
That supplemental funding would always be needed in schools here, but, with the economic recovery still in its infancy, education funding is coming up very short.
Bank employees are leading the effort, and First National can boast that 100 percent of its staff members are participating.
The bank will also be helping the schools promote themselves and their needs to the community to help bring in additional support.
It’s projects of this nature that make local businesses like First National Bank such great corporate neighbors.
We commend the bank and its employees for investing so much in our children’s future and encourage others to follow their example.
