Childersburg defeats Calera

The Childersburg Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Calera 71-61.

After trailing for three quarters the Tigers (14-4) finally were able to gain control as they outscored Calera 17-6 in the fourth quarter.

LaDavious Battle led four Childersburg players in double digits with 16 points. Isaiah Jones scored 12 points for the Tigers. Tarry McElrath added 11 points while Cordal Turner put up 10 points. Jamison Cook chipped in with nine points.

Deondre Haynes led the way for Calera with 24 points.

Childersburg takes on Stanhope Elmore on Thursday.

TC CENTRAL 60, WINTERBORO 54

The Talladega County Central Fighting Tigers defeated area foe Winterboro 60-54 on Tuesday night. This is the third time this season the Fighting Tigers have defeated Winterboro. TC Central trailed 29-26 going into halftime. TC Central outscored the Bulldogs 12-7 in the third quarter to take a 38-36 lead into the fourth period.

David Jemison led the way for TC Central with 19 points. Cameron Duncan scored 16 points while Antonio Freeman and Terrell Garrett scored 10 points apiece.

Marcus Jones led the way for Winterboro with 19 points. Barcardy McClendon scored 11 points while Justin Garrett chipped in with nine.

GIRLS

MUNFORD 58,

SYLACAUGA 38

The Munford Lady Lions used a huge third quarter to defeat Sylacauga 58-39 on Tuesday.

The Lady Lions (11-8) trailed going into halftime 20-15, but they came to life in the third quarter as they outscored Sylacauga 24-9 to take a 39-24 lead into the fourth stanza.

Keyana Chapman led the way for Munford with 25 points. Keatrice Wilson scored 11 points while Shakendra Thomas chipped in with nine points.

Shakayla Thomas led the way for Sylacauga with 15 points.

The Lady Tigers face Childersburg on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

TC CENTRAL 41, WINTERBORO 39

The Talladega County Central Lady Fighting Tigers pulled out a 41-39 win over area foe Winterboro on Tuesday.

Quingelica Strown led the way for TC Central with 16 points. Jasmine Richardson led the way for Winterboro with 18 points. Tanesha Merritt chipped in with 10 points.

ASD 47, TC CENTRAL 46

The Lady Silent Warriors of Alabama School for the Deaf defeated Talladega County Central, 47-46 on Monday in area action.

ASD opened the game with an 8-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but TC Central battled back. The Lady Warriors held a six-point lead at halftime, but TC Central held the advantage, 36-35 at the end of the third period.

Tuesdae Dunklin led ASD in scoring with 17 points, eight steals, three rebounds and two assists. DeAndria Clayton had 14 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists while Kanisha Jones added 10 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Marie Wheatley, Ashley Laster and Andrea Sigala all had two points.

The Lady Warriors move to 5-9 on the season and 1-8 in area play. ASD will host Fayetteville in area action on Thursday at 6 p.m.
