Wesson said he received a call at approximately 12:45 a.m. and arrived on the scene to find the victims lying on a porch and emergency responders attending to the victims’ wounds.
Three victims were transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga. They were treated in the emergency room and released. The fourth victim was airlifted to University Hospital in Birmingham with an apparent stomach wound.
Wesson said the juveniles were walking down Sadie Lee Drive when an individual stepped from behind a building and shot them with what appears to have been a semi-automatic weapon, possibly an SKS or AK-type weapon, based on the type of cartridges found at the scene.
Mayor B.J. Meeks said in the past a curfew had to be enforced. “We may have to set one for this summer,” Meeks said.
