TALLADEGA — Three residents are facing drug trafficking charges after picking up a package containing more than 6 pounds of marijuana at the post office.

According to Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force Commander Jason Murray, the package was mailed from San Diego, Calif., ostensibly from “Grandpa Henderson” and addressed to “Grandma Henderson.”

The package aroused the suspicion of postal inspectors, who notified the task force.

“Our dog alerted on the packages and we waited for someone to come pick them up,” Murray said.

Henry Antonio Curry, Travette Vondez Keith and Arelu (pronounced “Aurelius”) Renard Curry arrived Saturday, with Henry Curry signing for the package using a false name. “He did use the last name Henderson, but he did not sign as Grandma,” Murray said.

After leaving the post office, the three suspects went to Dollar General, where one went in to buy something. After getting back into the car, they were pulled over and arrested before they could go anywhere else.

The total weight of the marijuana was 6.1 pounds, Murray said.

All three defendants had their initial court appearance before District Judge Jeb Fannin. Bond for Henry Curry and Keith was set at $250,000. Arelu Curry’s bond was set at $200,000.

Trafficking in marijuana is a Class A felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by 10 to 99 years or life in prison. In addition, marijuana trafficking also carries a mandatory minimum of three calendar years, during which the convict will be eligible for parole, probation or good time credit and a $25,000 fine.

Uncle Bird!

The corn flat out burnt up! What are we gonna do about granny? I might be able to salvage a melon fer cabinfever but Obama just now let it rain and as usual he didn't react in the manner I saw fit to be held. I saw that ther job openin for the County Extension in the wanted ads. I need it so as I can buy me some good walkin shoes (I am still going to Georgia if this state don't improve the interests of individuals with disabilities). However I got mad again and shaved my head so I don't know if they will hire a bald headed creek/cherokee/mongoloid/redneck/ephonics speakin/educated/Hard Headed/Middle Aged civilized woman like myself. So pray fer me Uncle. BTW I told Uncle Sam he could keep that poverty check as I rather work vs takin his hand out just because I don't see eye to eye with him.

That's the problem uncle bird them young fellers would have bought a bussiness liscence but BUSHCARE denied their application. He preferred them on the "GoodOleBoy" Part A plan. Plan B no one wants it is called the Electric Chair. Don't worry though I know it ia all Obama's fault I be a learnin from my elders despite my attnetion defecit, medical bill defecit, and student loan deficit, automobile payment defecit, and well I am depressed now think I will call Cheaha. My generation we just defecit younguns. However we know we can trust our elders because to not would be disrespectin.....

Po granny we should put some corn on her books when it is harvestin time. If Obama lets it rain enough to keep from withern away.

I tells ya I feel safer already......

Now we don't have to worry about granny flyin airplanes into buildings. We took three young mens freedom in exchange for others guaranteed employment. I personally hypothesize granpaw wanted granny gone so he could bring home his younger bride (probly a illegal looking for a quick legalizing document) home to Alabama. Now the grandsons gosto be fed by us for 10-99 years. I say we shippem to California make them pay for it because it is all Obama's fault.

Damm younguns and po granny but society is better off I can tell already.

Yes Sir,

Po grandma henderson since she ain't allowed to grow none in her garden (what happen to freedom?)

Now she will probly be down there at Mental Health costin us taxpayers some more money by needin some nerve medication and cartaract medication and probly anger management because us young folks ain't no account these days. We don't know nothin to be so darn educated. The good news is though the judges, probation officers, mental health counselors, lawyers and police officers were given another day of employment. God Blessem for protectin us from granny.
