Residents of Ward 1 will be voting for either Horace Patterson or Katie Reynolds for City Council and, like all other Talladega citizens, former Mayor Larry Barton and former Revenue Commissioner Harvey Bowlin for mayor. Ward 1 residents cast their ballots at the B.N. Mabra Center.
Bowlin failed to file a designation of his campaign finance chairman in a timely manner, so if he wins, he will not be able to serve. The City Council president or president pro tempore would take office as mayor.
Ward 2 residents normally vote at the National Guard Armory, which is currently closed for asbestos removal. Those residents will vote at the Brecon Recreation Center, as they did in the general election.
Incumbent Ward 2 Councilman Eddie Tucker is facing Jarvis Elston, although Tucker cannot be certified a winner because he failed to file any of his campaign finance forms in a timely manner.
Ward 3 residents will vote for mayor at the Spring Street Recreation Center.
In Ward 4, voters will still cast their votes at Talladega High School, in the same location they did during the general election in August.
“Please try and avoid voting during the times the students are arriving or leaving the school,” a flier distributed by the city clerk’s office asks. “THS is currently getting its roof repaired, so there will be construction trucks. There will be a clear area for parking, and the polling site is wheelchair accessible. Traffic to the polling site at the high school will be to the left and, for election day only, two way traffic will be allowed for easier access to the polling place. Follow the signs.”
Ward 5 residents vote at the Bemiston Recreation Center.
All polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
