The Warriors led by six points at the end of the first quarter. ASD’s defense held Florida scoreless in the second period and the Silent Warriors took a 25-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Florida fought back in the third quarter, but ASD held a 10-point advantage entering the fourth. The Silent Warriors were able to maintain that lead and win, 44-34 to take the title.
TALLADEGA 60, CHILDERSBURG 57
Rematch to Talladega.
The Tigers in red defeated the Tigers in blue in the final match of the season between Talladega and Childersburg on Saturday.
In the third meeting between the two teams it was Talladega jumping out to the early lead, 24-10 at the end of the first quarter. Childersburg fought back in the second period and tied things up 29-29 at intermission. The two teams continued to battle in the third period with Childersburg holding a one-point advantage entering the fourth stanza. Talladega outscored Childersburg 17-13 in the fourth to pick up the victory.
LaDavious Battle led all scorers with 25 points for Childersubrg. Jamison Cook added 11 for the home team.
Tyler Mosley led Talladega in scoring with 22 points. Sidney Reynolds added 11 while Sidney Scales put up 10 for the Tigers.
Talladega returns to action on Monday when the Tigers travel to Calhoun County to take on the Anniston Bulldogs. Childersburg will face Vincent on Tuesday.
MUNFORD 61,
TC CENTRAL 46
The Munford Lions ended the regular season with a 61-46 victory over Talladega County Central on Saturday.
David Harris paced Munford with 21 points. Brandon Graham added 15 points. Jaren Dorman recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lions return to action on Friday when they face Handley in the first round of the 4A Area 6 tournament at Childersburg.
GIRLS
MSD 30, ASD 27
The Lady Warriors of Alabama School for the Deaf fell short of the Mason-Dixon Championship, losing to Mississippi School for the Deaf, 30-27 on Saturday in Florida.
Tuesdae Dunklin led ASD in scoring with 14 points. Kanisha Jones chipped in six for the Lady Warriors.
ASD returns to action on Monday in the area tournament at Donoho. The Lady Warriors face Faith Christian at 6 p.m.
CVA 52,
ENTERPRISE 26
The Lady Rebels of Coosa Valley Academy defeated Enterprise Prep, 52-26 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
CVA led by four at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead, 28-10 at intermission.
Lauren Archer led the way for the Lady Rebels, scoring 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Jordan Smiley had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
CVA 58,
ENTERPRISE 32
The Lady Rebels of Coosa Valley Academy completed the sweep over Enterprise Prep, 58-32 on Saturday.
Eighth grader Kaylan Rich led CVA in scoring with 24 points and eight rebounds. Lauren Archer had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Jordan Smiley added 13 points.
CVA returns to action on Thursday in the regional tournament, which is being held on the campus of Southern Union State Community College in Wadley.
