When the three chambers of commerce operating in Talladega County came together for a joint project, it was a trailblazing move in this state.

What they emerged with was a full color, glossy magazine to be used as a visitor’s guide to Talladega County — a marketing tool to introduce the county and what it has to offer.

Called Discover Talladega County, the guide is filled with directories of places to eat and to stay. It contains points of interest and recreational spots. And it includes stories and photos depicting the quality of life found in Talladega County.

In short, it is a resource guide all about Talladega County that the chambers and businesses can use to promote the county.

We salute all three visionary chambers who came together for a common good, and we continue to support their efforts in working together on other projects.

The directors hold regular meetings to discuss common problems and solutions, and they have been able to better serve their communities and the county as a whole because of their shared notion that what is good for one area can be good for all areas.

In the past, we saw it produce a series of job fairs throughout the county that helped put citizens back to work.

This week, we see a cooperative effort in producing a visitor’s guide that can serve the entire county.

In the future, we hope to see their monthly meetings and discussions among the three creating even more of that kind of progressive thinking.

All three chambers and their directors are to be commended for the outside-the-box thinking that will benefit not only their communities but the county as a whole.
