Second grader killed in go-kart crash

A second-grade Eden Elementary School student died in a go-cart crash Sunday afternoon.

St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell identified the victim as Savannah Goodwin, 7, of Pell City.

Russell said the accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Cherokee Road in the Cooks Spring area.

Russell said Goodwin was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. She died from head trauma.
