When the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce put on its 68th annual banquet Thursday night, leadership was at the forefront of the festivities.

It was a time to honor businesses and individuals who have made a difference in the city they serve.

Nominees for various awards were:

Industry of the Year — American Plant Services, Nemak of Alabama and MT South.

Established Business Award — Atkinson Real Estate, LaCosta Mexican Restaurant and Sylacauga’s TV6.

New Business Award — Gabby’s Coffee House and Corner Café’, ERA Oxford Realty and Farmer’s Insurance.

The Chamber also honored Policeman of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, Citizen of the Year and presented its Best Friend Award.

All who are considered for these awards, whether they won or not, are winners for their city. They have made a difference in the city’s life, and we congratulate all of them for this recognition of jobs well done.
