Sylacauga teen killed, 3 others injured in accident

A two-vehicle accident Friday evening claimed the life of a Sylacauga teen.

Christin Leigh Thrash, 19, was fatally injured when the vehicle she was riding in collided with a 1989 Oldsmobile Cierra driven by Robert Charles Pate, 52, of Sylacauga, at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Friday. Pate was taken to UAB Hospital

Thrash was one of three passengers riding in a 2001 Toyota 4Runner driven by Tisha E. Pate, 42, of Sylacauga; the other three passengers who were injured in that vehicle were Burnice Allen Morris, 32, of Jemison, Curtis Pate, 8, and Myra Morris who is 3 months old. Burnice Morris and Tisha Pate were transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center ER.

According to Public Information Officer Trooper Curtis Summerville the two vehicles collided at an intersection one mile West of Sylacauga on the Sylacauga-Fayetteville Highway.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
