TALLADEGA – The basketball programs at Talladega College are ready for the 2009-2010 season and they want the community to help them start the year off with a bang.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be hosting Midnight Madness on Sunday night at Callanan Gymnasium on the campus of Talladega College.
“We’re calling it midnight madness, but it’s not going to be at midnight,” TC women’s basketball coach Romeo Lagmay said. “It’s going to have the midnight madness theme.”
The event will begin at 9 p.m. and will feature short inter-squad scrimmages by both teams as well as events for fans in attendance.
“Midnight Madness is somewhat of a pep rally, an introduction of the men’s and women’s basketball team,” Lagmay said. “It’s an event where the community and the campus are involved; they get to partake in the festivities.
“We’ll have raffle prizes, a dunk contest, a three-point contest, a two-on-two contest with one male and one female from our programs.”
The event is free and open to the community. In addition to meeting the players and coaches for both squads, TC’s cheerleaders and dance team will be on hand to entertain fans.
“We have a great recruiting class and I want the community to come out and support us,” TC men’s basketball coach William Brown said. “We are going to have a fun and exciting season.”
