Tip of the hat: Block Party was a hit

Well over a thousand people turned out for Talladega’s first “block party” held in conjunction with the April in Talladega Pilgrimage Saturday night, and the atmosphere had them asking when it would happen again.

Some were even wishing for an event like that every month.

Organizers brought in a live band, arranged for vendors, had bounce attractions for children, and were blessed with wonderful weather for the inaugural event as residents and visitors came together to chat with each other and enjoy the evening.

The event marked the end of this year’s homes tour, which raises funds for local historic projects while putting the city’s best foot forward.

The event was certainly well-received, and we hope to see it repeated — maybe not every month, but hopefully sooner rather than later.

To those who organized the event and helped see it through to a safe and enjoyable evening, our hats are off to you!
