As far as I know, no one died in the accident I reffered too. The total silence regarding the accident by most of the local and near local problem, IS a matter of selective reporting.

TV47’s Chris Davis DID post a video on Facebook concerning the accident, without going into great detail. He did not violate anyones privacy, but he did what the DH and others neglected to do.

When people need top get local news on Facebook, someone is dropping the ball…

I guess that is depedant on several items, including the press time, if the press was EVEN NOTIFIED of it, and who handled it. Most times when media is involved in an accident, it’s because someone has called them and reported it. If no one calls, how should the media know?

Plus, if an investigation is on-going regarding the identities or if their was questionable (or doubts) on both parties involved, they aren’t going to release any information regarding either involved party.

The reason that the Fields family was so heavily publicized is because of the a)location, b)county of occurance, c)people in the Fields family that were members of law enforcement agencies locally.  I’d say the most bearing on the Fields family WAS the law enforcement — Jessica’s uncle — who’s a member of a local Drug Task Force agency. Although it may not be fair, these days it comes back on who knows who, and media was TOO heavily involved in the Fields case..

I’m not sure WHY you would want media coverage of anyone’s death, as we really had enough of the phone calls from news stations in Birmingham wanting to know answers to questions that WE didn’t even know yet (during the week or so after Jessie’s wreck).

It’s not really all it’s cracked up to be when they call constantly. Reporting news is one thing, but sometimes it goes beyond that..and it’s just plain intruding on the family.

We are all aware of the recent tragic accident, when 2 children and their mother were killed in a traffic accident. Their names were published in the paper and other media, as well as well as the name of the driver in another vehicle who is alleged to have caused the wreck.
Last Saturday there was a major wreck on Hwy 280 that casus serious injury to many people, an the media is basically silent regarding the accident. The wreck caused all 4 lanes of the highway to be blocked, and the injuries were serious enough to require 3 helicopters, and other emergency vehicles to transport the victims to various hospitals.
You gotta wonder WHY this did not make the news in the Daily Home, and why no names were published concerning the identities of those involved…
