The Anniston Star wins 20 state awards

04-07-2007

The Anniston Star picked up eight first-place awards and a sports sweepstakes award on the way to capturing 20 awards total in the 2006 Alabama Associated Press Managing Editors contest.

The announcement was made Friday by the APME. Winners in all categories, including two winners yet to be named, will be recognized during a ceremony May 5 at Orange Beach.

“These awards are a recognition of the quality work done by our staff,” said Bob Davis, editor of The Anniston Star. “I was pleased to see that The Star won more first-place awards and more awards in all categories than any other competitor in our classification,”

In 2005, the newspaper won six first-places and 15 awards in all categories.
