The Childersburg 11-year-old All-Star team soundly defeated Theodore, 15-1 in an All-Star tournament Saturday.Zack Lightsey struck out three in two innings of work while Ryan Garrett gave up one run and struck out three in two innings.
Tyler Jackson also pitched two innings for Childersburg, striking out four and allowing one hit.
Childersburg had a productive day at the plate with 19 hits in 35 at-bats. Jackson led the way with a two-run homer, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored in the game. Lightsey had three hits, three runs scored and an RBI while Hunter McCain and Cameron Twymon each had two hits on the day. Walker Holmes and Jamel Roston each had a triple and two RBIs in the game. Darius Hale was 1-2 with one RBI on the day.
Childersburg plays two games today with the first game beginning at 1 p.m.
TALLADEGA 8, ASHLAND 7
The 14-year-old Talladega All-Stars defeated Ashland, 8-7 Friday night in Talladega.
Wayne Parnell was the winning pitcher and had nine strikeouts on the night. At the plate, Tony Simmons had a bases-loaded double to score two runs and give Talladega the lead.
SYLACAUGA 14, TALLADEGA 4
In the 13-year-old All-Star tournament, Sylacauga picked up the win over Talladega, 14-4 Friday night.
